I have two 5 1/2 month old leopard geckos that up until I posted pics asking for help sexing them thought they were both female...well after some replies I think my little Azalea and Cleopatra are now Leonardo and Ozzy. They have been together since hatchlings and stay in the same 30 gallon tank...they have plenty of hides and even stay in the same one at times. I didn't know if it was best to get a whole new set up to separate them or put a devider that I already have in the tank they are in now. Is it impossible for two males to get along and if not what age do they usually start fighting or claiming territory? Thanks for info and help.

Separating them is your best bet. There have been a few cases of males living happily together, but that is very much an exception not a rule. Chances of it working out are slim. I have heard different accounts as far as when they actually hit sexual maturity which is when your bullying/fighting is most likely to happen (40g, 9 months, 5-6 months, etc.). Until you do get them separated do daily or multiple time daily "Gecko Checks". Look for any abnormalities like bites, scratches, etc. Also listen for odd sounds coming from their cage like thumping or tail rattling. If you hear or see anything they need to be separated immediately.

As far as the whole new set up or just dividing the tank, either is acceptable. Whatever works best for you and the amount of space you have to work with. Obviously going with another large tank gives them both the most room to roam, but if your space and/or money is limited half of a 30 gallon is plenty adequate. :)

Thank you! I have been watching them really close but I'll go ahead and put the devider I have in there for now and get another tank when I am able. The stand I have will hold another 30 gallon tank on the bottom so Ill just make them bunk tanks instead of bunk beds :p

That'll work! Just don't forget you may have to adjust the UTH so they both have a warm and cool side with the divider. [emoji3]
