Which lizard for this setup...

Ive been seeing these screen tanks everywhere lately. From what Ive see the biggest problem with these is that they dont hold humidity well. The main reptile I see being housed in them are chameleons. Are there any other reptiles that do well in one?

I curious about this as well. They are nice and large, for a good price. My question is, how well do they hold in substrate?

I was curious as well about that. I figure since they are fine mesh they would hold in most larger substrates. You could always glue plastic on the bottom.

They sell plastic liners that fit the bottom of the cages to hold substrate. As far as what species to go in it, screen cages sort of limit your options. Yes chameleons do well in them, they also can work for anoles, small arboreal lizards like Long tailed grass lizards, emerald tree skinks, small iguanids, calotes, etc. If used horizontally, they can work for Bearded dragons, Rankin's Dragons, Uromastyx, and Chuckwallas. However, they are extremely bad at holding heat, so with high temp species like that powerful basking lamps are an absolute must.

Thanks, how do you go about keeping the humidity up for some of these creatures. Some like the anole need high humidity. Do you just mist often.

They are perfect for chameleons! I used these cages when I was breeding chameleons. I used them for 6 years with out any problems what so ever. This is the only cage I suggest for chameleons.

Yeah just mist the cage. You can also use eco earth for substrate and keep it moist to hold humidity for you.

Yup. As Rob said use a deep layer of water holding substrate as well as frequent misting. Live plants help as well. I also have found that covering 3 sides with plastic sheeting can help retain humidity if your house is particularly dry.

You should get some day geckos. Dang, I love those things. Perhaps some Lygodactylus williamsi

well you could get any species chameleon, aboreal geckos ex. bibron, crested geckos. Maybe even red eyed treefrogs. Just put coco fiber as a substrate it holds humidity well, also you could buy a misting system for like $60 or just mist often
