i just aquired my first 2 geckos and they are both very calm and nice (sunglows) and then i read about people who have untouchable leos, is there really a difference from one morph to another generally speaking? and if so, which are the nicest / meanest generally ?

I think that it really comes down to individual gecko personality. Personally, I think that our Patternless and Giant Males as well as all of our Rainwater Albinos are the most gentle. It may have more to do with the parent and owner personalities in addition to how much time they are handled. Blizzards have a reputation for being nasty but I've also heard of many that are super mellow.

Our patternless/mack snow patternless are very skiddish, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the morph (they have gotten better since we've had them and they've gotten used to us more). However, it seemed like our mack snows were pretty mellow and laid back ever since day 1.

See we have a little Mack that screams when you walk into the room. I'm pretty sure that age and how they are raised has a lot to do with it.

Awww.. poor little thing! I agree, I think how they were raised has a BIG role in it all. Some breeders just don't have the time to handle every single baby, and some do. It's a toss-up!

Blizzards and mack het blizz in my collection are mean.(except the fatty from Marcia!) My fascios are just down right erratic, even the offspring are high strung ones!

I'd say Afghans are the calmest and super doscile.

The morph of a gecko isn't any influence on the aggressiveness. Incubationtemperature in fact is! Most of the times when a gecko is incubated at a higher temperature (nevermind the sex of the animal), it possesses more androgens, which cause higher display of aggressiveness.

well, we have had some that we get and they are a bit wierd and jumpy....like a few blizzards and one tangerine that wanted to eat my hand for awhile. You just have to talk to them and be calm around them and handle them a bunch and they calm right down.

I don't think there is a specific morph that is "meaner" than any other one.

i know color has nothing to do with it, but maybe over inbreeding to get that color is why say many bb are mean ?

I acquired a male BB a while back, I was instructed by the original owner that he was agressive and bites all the time. Within a month and a half, with a lot of time spent acclimating him to his new environment and spending time with my hand right next to him in the tank, I can now pick him up with little to no struggle and handle him without him biting me. He only attempted to bite me within the first couple of days when I had to move him over to rearrange some of his enclosure furniture. It just takes time and most leopards will warm up to you.

I love my Blazing Blizzard, he is one of my favorites.

what i've come to notice is some geckos will have an attitude for a while then it will go away and it goes in and out of being 'mean' to 'mellow' my leopard gecko has always seemed like he would want to eat your face, but recently hes sort of mellowed out(normal morph i THINK) still skittish, but just now i layed down some wet paper towels for him and i pet across his back and he accepted it(first time) and also currently my fat tail is very skittish and doesnt want to be seen or touched.

My giant/super giant albinos (Aptors) are my most chill leos. Alot of blizzards are extra sassy, but there are always exception to any rule :) All my AFTs seem to be sedated all the time. Don't forget, that the temperature the eggs are incubated at can also effect the "attitudes" of the geckos--the hotter the incubation temp, the more anti-social your geckos become.

I respectfully disagree with this. If it was the case, then by sheer virtue of the higher incubations temperatures, males would be more agressive than females. This is simply not the case.

I honestly believe that the disposition of a leopard gecko is different for individual geckos.

i also disagree, just because males are incubated at higher temp. and that woiuld mean that most males would be mean, when that isnt the case

mabye some are cofused by something i reade that sais if you incubate at higher temperature to get all males and by chance get a female, she will be aggresswive so they were saying females at high temps from what i read awhile back

good question :main_yes: my tangerine bell albino's are nice :D but my lavender bell albino's are crazy:main_angry: ......so even with the same morph but different colors could be different:main_huh: . My tremper albinos female and male giant (96grams) are nice:main_yes: thank god... because if that male giant ever bit me I'm sure he will bite a chunk right off :main_laugh: :main_laugh: .....lol. My line bred snows are nice also and they were inbred to be totally white. Eclipse female is skittish :( and male eclispe is super nice.:main_thumbsup:
