Which supplements do I need?

Okay, I know I need regular calcium, which I of course need.
But I also see a lot of other vitamin supplements. My question is, if you get the calcium with D3 is there still another supplement (multivitamin) you should also give (other then leaving regular calcium in the terranium)?
If so, can you suggest types that you find particularly good.

Well I use Rephasy Calcium Plus is an ALL IN ONE calcium/vitamin supplements. Super easy to use. If your not using Calcium Plus you need PURE Calcium, Calcium w/D3, then a multivitamin. Before I started using Calcium Plus I used Rep Cal Calcium, Rep Cal Calcium w/D3 and I believe they have a multivitamin called Herptivite.

can you leave cal plus in a dish in the tank or does it have to be pure calcium and where can I find pure calcium ? I tried three different chains and no luck.

Try going to your Local Pet***** or ***** they should carry it. If not you should check at your local Grocery or Vitamin store for Calcium Carbonate(Make sure it does not have any additives in it).

I got mine at a Pet Store Chain

I got my pure Calcium at a Pet Store Chain.

But, since I have several Pet Stores around here, I will sometimes stop for the fun of it and see what they have.

And, I ran across it.

if you have calcium plus. You don't even have to put a dish in your leopard geckos tank as what I have heard. I am currently waiting for my Calcium plus in the mail :D

Dish or no dish

I do not know if you need a dish or not.

On the one hand, if your Leos get all of the Calcium that they need then they do not need a dish.

On the other hand, if they do not get all of the Calcium that they need then you need a dish.

So I do not know how to ask a Leo if they need it or not.

We don't have any plain calcium here..

All we have is the Calcium D3 vitamin supplement, and I have a white calcium vitamin powder without D3 stick formula so it sticks to bugs.. but that's all I can find in Alaska..

Dust your feeders with Calcium Plus and be done with it! No dish of calcium is required in the enclosure. If the gecko feels the need to self supplement there is always some residual calcium in the food dish.

Well

I would assume that you do not need a dish of calcium if ... your substrate cannot be ingested by your leos.

That would make since to me.

In my opinion, pure calcium should be available at all times in the form of a calcium dish in the cage no matter what supplement you use...

#1, you should not supplement every feeding... You can over-vitaminize (if thats even a word) your leos... If your leo eats even only 3 times a week you still should not dust every feeding... One dusting a week of vitamin supplement on feeders is more than enough vitamin intake for leos...

#2, there are times when leos need to take in more calcium than normal... This includes but is not limmited to ovulation and egg production... Maybe your leo did not get enough from the dusting... Would it not be a good idea for a leo to have access to a calcium dish if it needed it???

Honestly, I rely more on my leos taking what they need for themselves than I do on some supplement company telling me that their product has everything my leo needs and there is no need for additional calcium...

I've heard of people making their own calcium by grinding up some Cuttle Bone.. I dunno if that's a great idea but it's just a suggestion.

I've never heard of this ever happening. Please provide some background or reference material...

BTW, C+ is not just vitamins. There are a lot of other essential nutrients in C+.
