... and super giants? are there any morphs of giant that are compatible with Bells (not that I'm thinking of breeding any time soon if at all but...)? Where can I read up more about the development of the giant/super giant morph?

Thanks ;)

"texas albino" is another ocassionally used name for tremper albino, as Ron Tremper lives in Texas. Most giants do in fact have tremper albino genes as when Ron was developing the giant line, he bred it into his tremper albinos. Finding giants that are not tremper or het tremper can be rather difficult, actually. That's why I suggested Nevin, he went about the long process of breeding the tremper gene out of the giants and getting pure animals to cross with bells.

From what I understand of my fellas morph he is bold mack snow het bell het patty. He'd need to be bred with another bell right? Even if daddy had texas giant in him? From what I understand you're not suppose to combine the albino gene pools right.

As long as he's not het tremper you'll be fine. There are giants without tremper in them out there, they're just not all that common.

How do you tell whether there is Tremper in a giant gecko? Because I have two petstore bought geckos, one is a proven giant and was sold as such and the other was two months younger than his tankmate and is at least 10-15g heavier... But the stores didn't know their morphs...

Could I post pictures and be told if they are tremper or not?

The only way to know whether a non-albino is het tremper is to test breed them to a tremper albino.

Any tremper albino animal will do for test breeding for the albino gene, Mack snow tremper, enigma tremper, super snow tremper, tremper eclipse, raptor, etc. The basic concept is an animal that is homeozygous for the gene(a visual albino) when bred to a heterezygous animal(that is a non-visual albino yet carries the gene) 50% of the babies will be visual albinos. So, in order to test whether or not a gecko is het for tremper(or bell or rainwater, or eclipse or any recessive gene, they all work the same way) you breed it to a visually homeozygous animal of that trait and see if the babies exhibit the trait. Giant is a Codominant gene. An animal can be a giant and also het for tremper or a giant and not het for tremper. In order to figure out whether or not it is het for tremper you must test breed to a tremper animal. It does not matter what other genes are combined with the tremper gene, as long as it is a visual confirmed tremper albino. In order to confirm giant genes, the animal must be bred to another non-giant animal, the offspring must be held back until a year of age, and size comparisons must be done. If the animal is in fact a giant, approximately 50% of the offspring will grow to above average length and weight(90+ grams for females, 100+ grams for males). It's a bit more complicated than this, and often will take more than one season to prove out suncessfully and 100%, but that's the just of it.
