...like to lay up against the sides of their hides ?

all but one of my 6 leo's will put their whole body up against the sides of the hides and actually hold themselves up against it and fall asleep like that. sometimes it looks so funny, lol.

this is the phantom in his moist hide with the side of his face smushed up against the side. all my hides are plenty big for their occupants so it's not like there's no room for them to stretch out. like they want to use the littlest space possible, heh. my BB is the only one that will actually flatten out completely with all his legs back like a dog, haha. bad pic i know; it was shot through the tub.

First off, adorable.

I suppose that, as with mice, hamsters, and other small animals that live on/in the ground, being squashed in small spaces or tunnels where a predator probably couldn't reach feels safe to them. My leo prefers his small hide that he barely fits in over his slightly larger log hide, and I've found him squeezed under such tiny spaces in his rock pile that I was afraid it had somehow collapsed on him. When he's out on the floor, he panics and freezes or runs toward me or the furniture - if I put my hands tightly against his sides and make a "tunnel" though, he's able to calmly explore his new environment.

It may also work as heat regulation, depending on the temperature.
