Why is he eating less?

Stripes started to eat less about maybe a week ago. He usually eats 10-15 mealies every night. Now he's only eating 3-4. Why is this happening? The temps in his cage has been very stable. He is pooping normally and he doesn't look skinny. Should I be worried?

How old is he and how big is he? Many geckos go way down on eating when they reach about 40 grams. If he's getting that big, you may want to feed him every other day instead of every day.

Oh, I think he might have reached 45 last week. I also put in a new hide for him about a week ago. Could that have affected him?

Well that could affect them but when i feed my little leopard gecko i take the main hide out. you could try that and like you said the new hide could affect him and he will probably get used to the hide and start eating more.

Another problem that it might face is an illness that could cause it to stop eating but one you can't tell just by looking at it.Finally how big is the cage? They might be squished in there and won't eat because there under stress.

During Winter when there are less daylight hours, many geckos slow down on their feeding. In the wild, they would be brumating (hybernation) due to the lack of prey for feeding and cold temperatures. If your gecko has a good fat reserve and is typically a good eater, I wouldn't be too concerned unless he starts to lose significant weight.

I second the above comment.
If he looks as you are describing,
he sounds fine and I doubt you should worry.
Many of mine have cut back on the quantity of worms too.
Just try to keep the worms fresh by feeding orange peel/carrot.
Try missing a day and then try every other day.

Having a scale is good, so you can monitor weight.
take care.. HJ

I'm in the same boat here. My leo was eating 20-25 mealies a day and now has been only 3 or 4 every other day.

Weighed her tonight and she is 42g so must be her size, like said above getting some scales is a very good idea :)
