Wide Angle Lenses

Hey, photography buffs! Can anyone recommend a decent wide angle lens for a Canon DSLR? I'd like to find something new or used for under $300. Tall order, I know! My standard lens is an EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and I'd like a wider option for portraits mostly.

Woohoo! Found a used 24mm f/2.8 on ebay and got it for just a few dollars more than a new 28mm. I'd love a 20mm but couldn't find one that fit the tight budget!
