My first reptile was a young leopard gecko, and i bought him just as pet so i didn't cared about the morph and stuff, i thought he was a high yellow at the begining. He's parents are both Mack snow het. for patternless (he had super snow and patternless brothers).
and the wierdest thing happened - he turned out to be a hypo...
i've seen the parents and there's NO WAY they are somehow hypo's, they look like ugly mack snows, look more like a normals than mack snow
so... after 2 years of having him i still dont know what his morph is, maybe it's a new mutation of hypo? maybe you got another explenation?
ok - so here's some photos of him to help you figure it out:
here he is when he was 2 weeks old, sorry for the bad quality -

here's a photo of him 5 months old -

and here's a photo of him 1.5 year old -

so... what do you say?!

Looks to be a High Yellow. A true Hypo should have 10 or less spots on the back. Mack to Mack pairing can produce normals. A High Yellow is just a normal with reduced spots on the back. These days, true normals seem harder to come by.

Regardless of whether the gecko could technically be called a hypo, I imagine the point is that he has a lot fewer spots than you were expecting. Degree of spotting is a line bred trait. It wouldn't be surprising if there were other geckos in the parents' "family tree" that had reduced spotting. It didn't show up in the parents, but you got "lucky" with yours.

ok, it really looks like he's a high yellow but "close" to a hypo
i guess with the right female he could get hypo and super hypo hatchlings
thanks

He can only produce hypo babies if he has the hypo gene. Some thing are line bred, like reduced spotting and high yellow. Hypo is a co-dominant trait that cannot be line bred, it has to be there to be passed on.
