Ok, so I have been out of the GF loop for quite a while...I used to visit everday! Now it's a rarity!! I feel horrible, but life has taken over lately.

Anyway, I know I labeled this thread as "Wii fit anyone?"....and I wanted to talk about that, as well as saying....I MISS YOU GUYS ON THIS FORUM!! I can't catch up! LoL :).

Anyone have the Wii? If so, do you have the Wii fit also? I do!! It's been one of the things keeping me busy...I'm trying to lose a little weight and get more in shape and toned, since that's really all it can do because it's not a "true" workout, but definitely leaves you a little sweaty and fatigued in the muscles.

Today is my two week deadline for my goal of losing 5 pounds, and sadly, it didn't happen. I did go up and down throughout the whole two weeks, but I never really lost much weight, though my stomach feels a little flatter and my muscles are getting stronger.

I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else is taking the "wii fit challenge". I need some support to keep me motivated here! I think I am going to start running to supplement my wii workouts, since the indoor running in place it offers gets old and hurts my ankles.

Anyone?!

Hello nice to see you back on since its been so long you dont even know me I havent been here that long. About the Wii though I do not have a wii but from what I read it seems people have the same problem. They say it works..... but not as much as they thought. One person quoted that "I turned it off and decided t go jogging 2 blocks instead." So basically yeah it does work but alot of people say you need more then just that. Hope this helps :)

Hey Kristin. Good to see you back!
Did you happen to have a body mass index done? You may have lost 5 pounds, just regained it in muscle.
I did the same thing when I did Tae Bo. (sp?)
Didn't loose a pound, but I had to buy all new clothes and I swear I could have bench pressed a Buick.:p

I did have my BMI done, everday when I did a body test it would tell me my BMI and weight. I know I am at a healthy weight, and actually I think it says I should gain weight to be "more normal", but I don't want to do that!!

I do feel like I've lost some inches and definitely gained a bit of muscle - not a lot, but enough to make myself feel better!

I'll give you a run down of my BMI for each day of the two weeks I did this (I did miss about 3 days though):

Day 1 down to Day 12:
20.90
20.96
21.02
21.14
20.96
21.23
20.90
20.59
20.71
20.83
20.71
20.93

As you can see I fluctauted a lot! But I do realize that was probably due to the fact that I did the test in the evenings during the week (between 5 and 7) and then on the weekends would usually do it in the morning, or mid afternoon. So I wish I had been more consistent with the time of day I did it. I think I want to start doing it every morning before I eat.

But I didn't lose any weight really, my BMI actually went up a tad! My goal BMI was 20.49 and that would be 146.4 pounds.

I don't know how accurate the Wii is at measuring BMI, but I think it gives me a good idea of how "healthy" I am! And I feel good that I worked out a total of 10 hours and 17 minutes in the two week period! That's more than ever :main_laugh:!

I also wanted to add that it may not be the best way to lose weight and get fit, but it definitely motivates you to want to do more! Like I said, I now want to go running, because after running with the computer for the past two weeks, I have gained enough energy and muscle to actually run for 10 minutes or more at a time, where in the past I couldn't run or jog for more than say 1 minute.

I like how it keeps track of everything and since it includes yoga and strength training, I really feel like I'm getting "balanced" and gaining muscle where I don't think I ever really had it before :).

Well I haven't actually played Wii Fit... But I've played Wii Sports & that is not really the same... but it does help you in ways I didn't think possible! I mostly just play tennis to get my WiiFit Age lower, now I'm 52! I started at 73! But it's really good that it motivates you to do more.. That's a start!

I still can't even get my hands on one yet. :main_no: They're always sold out; the last time my local store got some, they had 30 that sold out in 10 minutes. :main_rolleyes:

I like it for how it's something that makes you get up off the couch and actually move! :D...I love the tennis too! I just don't play it enough anymore, so my age would probably be ridiculously high now!

It took me a while to get one myself. I actually got one off ebay - I know they are way overpriced on ebay, but I went the hard way around to get one at retail. I bought a Wii bundle that included the Wii, Wii fit, and a bunch of other stuff for a lot of money, but all at retail, and now I'm just reselling all the other stuff but the Wii Fit :). I almost regret doing that, I would have rather paid $100 more for one instead of taking all this time to resell everything...but I've almost got it all sold!! So in the end I am technically getting one at retail price :main_rolleyes:.
