Will a Gecko be Happy in this?

I am going to get a gecko and I'm wondering if this is sufficient for the gecko. Is it necessary to get tiles as substrate or can I just leave it like that?. Should I put in the lamp on top for the gecko? I am also going to get another bowl for calcium powder. The temp in the tank is about 26-30 celcius. Is that fine?

you should still have some sort of substrate whether it even be paper towels or newspapers. and id also put that temp. gauge on the bottom where they'll be. i hope you have some sort of belly heat too, unless its 90+ in your house year round. is that an exo terra 18x18x18? i wouldnt house an adult in there. i have an exo thats 24x18x18 but i only use it for my gargoyles.

It seems awfully tiny....

I would defintly put the thermometer down at the bottom
Also if you use a heat lamp it might not get warm enough that high up (I know I had to lower my heat lamp, when i had one and it was only a 20 gallon high)

So you might want to think about a small heating pad

As substrate you can use reptile carpet. Paper towels or newspaper (newspaper can actually be pretty cool looking if you can shuffle through and find the country temprature pictures for the week, ha ha it kind of matches your gecko, at least it did mine)

Also you need a shedding box (you can put wet paper towels in that or get moss and spray it with luke warm water every two days, or sooner if it's very dry especially if your gecko is about to shed)

You'll want to put that on the hot side of so that it gets humid in their

Also you'll need a hiding box on the cool side, wherever it's farthest away from the heat and one on the hot spot.

you might think about a second level (check housing and you might be able to figure out how they create theirs)

Also. I noticed that with those exo terra vivariums they are easy to open but the big black bar is right in front of bascially where you gecko is going to be seen, maybe have that as the back door instead of the front, that is just my opinion. XD

Hope that helped

Oh also for the calcium dish, you can just use some kind of lid that has low sides

Also the temperature for the cage should be as follows

Warm side- 80-85-90 degrees farenheit hot side and cool side should be (Guys correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have a temperature guage on the other side of the aquarium I just know mines correct) but I belive it's 70-80 degree and at night it can be 65-70
and hot side 75-85 but it doesn't have to be

Leos will not benefit from all that height of that enclosure since they are ground dwellers. I personally don't think it is ideal but it could work if necessary.

I looks a bit small, but for one baby or juvie, it should be fine until they grow out of it.
Like the others said, you need a substrate, a UTH w/ thermostate, and a moist hide.

I worked at a pet store for three years and the reason that 10 gallons are so cheep is because they are mass produced where as the larger sizes are not. Also since most tanks are actually made to hold fish and thus water as they get bigger the glass has to be thinker to be able to handle the water pressure, so that makes it more expensive. Im not saying its ok, I think its quite stupid, but those are the reasons.

If that is the 18x18x18 than you will be fine. I am currently housing 2 adults in one that size and they are both flourishing. The female is now 69G and the male is 59G. Do as you please but there is no problem with using that enclosure for an adult leopard gecko. The actual floor space of that enclosure is more than that of a 10Gallon tank, and that is sufficient for 1 adult....so why would something with more floor space not be equally as fine?

Well bounsall it looks smaller. That's all I have a 10 gallon and I have a lot more available space than what that one appears to have

The appearance is deceiving in that the 18x18x18 is a square.....whereas a 10 gallon is a rectangle giving it the appearance of more space.

The typical dimensions of a 10 gallon are 19long x 10-12 wide
