won't eat mealies

I finally got some mealworms the other day, and now that it has been so long since my leo has had them (I kept him on crickets and an occasional pinky) he won't eat them. He seemed to like them well enough before the whole shortage. Any ideas on how to get him to eat them again?

They tend to get used to things and make up their minds what they want.
My male started out liking mealies, now, he just licks the calci dust off and rolls them around the floor with his nose :p when the calci dust is all gone, he ignores them, and even steps on them if they are in his way! :main_laugh:

My female will eat ANYTHING! it doesnt even have to be moving!
She will go around and eat the legs that fell off the crix.

Once they decide they dont want something, and they know they have a choice, it's hard to get them back.
Bottom line, if they are hungry enough, they will eat them.

You can try scenting them with some cricket guts. Fun times, eh? :)

LOL! I tried that. It did make him think about it, but no! :(
He would just tentitivly put it in his mouth, then let it drop out!
(then lick the dust off!!!!!)

yep
I hate buy crix compared to meal worms, especially because I live in a college dorm and the crickets sometimes start to chirp. I'll hold on to the mealies for a bit and try to coax him to eat them

On a whim I just bought him a super, and he snapped it right up. Is there that big of a difference between the two? I thought a super was a glorified mealie

I think supers are just Xlarge mealies!?
I'm sure they taste the same too!
Maybe your leo was really hungry, or it's a mood thing :main_huh:

Maybe it's a good time to try regular mealies again since he took to the Mothra sized mealy!

I tried and he turned his nose up at it, but then I put in another super and he ate it.
