I have a female leo named June who is approximately 3 years old. (She is a rescue, so I don't know for sure.) She is producing eggs, but won't lay them. I can see at least 6, and who knows how many more there are in there. I've tried a variety of substrates and combinations for her, but she still won't lay. I've tried coconut fibre, vermiculite, sand, moss, and various combinations thereof. She also won't eat - I have to force feed her (0.5 ml of ReptiGel from the vet, twice weekly. I add calcium to this as well.) She has been to the vet several times, and I've been offered three options: 1) do nothing and hope she lays them on her own; 2) give her injections of a drug that may or may not induce her to lay; 3) surgery.
Now obviously I don't want her to have surgery! I am going to try the injections, but is there anything else I can do to convince her to lay? She is in a 20 gallon long, with three hides: warm/dry, warm/moist, cool/dry. She also has a few other pieces of cage furniture which she seems to enjoy climbing. The warm end of her tank is 90F at substrate level, and the cool end is ~75F at substrate level. Her substrate is paper towels. She sheds regularly, and seems as active and interested in her surroundings as always.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
