I think I finally found a diet that works with my reactive hypoglycemia!!!!

I've lost 8 lbs in the past 10 days!!!!! Yes it's a little to much, too fast, but it will tapper off. I'm just now getting where my shakes are leveling out so my body is starting to adjust to the new diet. :) I'm currently being a good girl and eating some raw broccoli, which I love, so this is going to work. My goal is to get back down to 115lbs :main_thumbsup:

LOL Jill!! Actually, with the mood I've been in for the past few weeks, I've not really had the appetite to eat a full meal. I knew the only way for me to loose weight with this condition was to eat small snacks throughout the day.

What happens with reactive hypoglycemia is that your body produces too much insulin and your sugar drops to bellow fasting levels within 2-4 hours after eating. This is why people with reactive or normal hypoglycemia get the shakes. The shakes are from your body producing adrenalin to replace the sugar that you need, which gives you a feeling of "fright and flight", which is not good on the heart. So to control this you need to eat when you get the shakes. This means eating very small portions spread out.

sounds familiar, I almost passed out in the car 2 days ago, rob had to run into 7-11 to get me some nutty bars..nothing like a quick rush of sugar to balance one self back out

That's awesome Felicia! It's an awesome feeling to start shedding pounds, and it really doesn't take more than a week to get adjusted to eating different. You just have to have the willpower to keep with it.

I've lost 40 lbs in the past 3 months. I started November 13th and made it through the holidays just fine. The past 3-4 weeks have been pretty slow for some reason. I really need to buy an elliptical now and start exercising. I still can't believe I lost this without exercise.

Keep up the good work and maybe you, Scott and I can inspire some others to jump on a diet bandwagon. We can all yell at eachother to keep us on track, haha.

Congrats again, and I hope you hit your goal.

Congrats on the weight loss! I hope you meet your goal! My diet is not the best. I eat whatever I want then exersize alot to make up for it. If I don't exersize I put on the pounds fast. I've been a little lazy the past few months and I have noticably gained weight. I think it's time to lay off the pizza and hamburgers lol.

That's awesome, Felicia! Congrats. And you're allowed to cheat on your birthday, it's in the rules. :)

Thats great Felicia! And cheating isnt bad, as long as its moderated hahaha it actually restores some of the sugars you neglect your body and yes your body needs those sugars. Just not in huge amounts :D. Good luck and well wishes to shedding more pounds!

i wish i had hypoglycemia, then i would have an excuse as to why i eat so much, but as of right now theres no excuse for being a fat ***. 8 pounds is a little much. 1 pound a week is what I've had due to swimming. The reason its only 1 pound is cause ive built up muscle too. I wanna get rid of all the goo on my stomach tho :(

I just got an eliptical from Freecycle, amazing huh? I did my weight losing a couple years ago (60 pounds) so now I am just trying to get in better shape. My mom however, has lost about 30 pounds in 2 months. My sister has always had terrible digestion problems and this doctor she goes to now is trying a new diet with her. My mom decided to try it as well. It is more than a diet, it is a way to change your style of eating. Plus there are shakes that go with it that contain about 75 vitamins and it is an incredible detox. The key behind it is to reintroduce all foods into your system one at a time, as well as eliminating ALL processed food. If anyone is interested I can scan the paper about it and post it. I am warning you though, it's a lifestyle change, not a quick way to loose weight. And I mean to the point where if you cheat, you will feel like crap. All I know is it works..
