Brought home my newbie on Saturday and set her up in quarantine with the other one i got that day from the same guy. She has been particularly lethargic, had her first shed but didn't bother to eat it or even try to get it off...so after letting her be for two days, i soaked her and helped her get if off....but i noticed a few other things, her belly looked really strange, and one of her front legs looks like it bends in a little bit at the foot. Anyway, here's a pic....any ideas of what is going on, i'm worried about it :(

It looks in rough shape. Thin, possibly bow legged with MBD, or maybe its just the picture. Make sure it is getting the calcium supplement, and try giving small food items in the morning and at night, and have it in a simple tupperware enclosure on a heat pad so that it gets to 90F. That is all that I can suggest.

It is thin, but she's a hatchling that just hatched a few days ago, she just had her first shed, and since it didnt come off, i had to give her a warm soak and help it off. The bowlegged part is possibly because she was still in the warm water when i took the picture (i didnt put paper towel in the bottom for the pic) so maybe she was like that because she was trying to grip the slippery bottom? All my leos have constant calcium, her hot side is 92.5 and the cool 72.1. She has a moist hide, a humid hide, a cool hide and a warm hide, plus water bowl and calcium bowl. She doesn't have access to constant mealies, but she just got here Saturday and just shed her very first shed technically today after assistance, so i wasn't expecting her to eat. I'm puzzled :(

It sounds like a very stressful experience for a newborn (at least that's what it sounds like from your description) to get sold and go to a new home. Most of my hatchlings, after their first shed (which would make them about 3 days old) don't eat much for quite awhile. I think if you keep it warm and comfortable and continue to offer it food it should be ok.

Thanks Aliza...i have never bought one this young, so it just made me really concerned. I weighed her when i brought her home, and she was 2.2 grams, so she's so teeny. The strange thing is that the other girl i got at the same time, from the same breeder, is great, shed on the way home, ate it, and ate 2 mealies yesterday and 2 today...so i guess this one just stresses more easily. I'll start leaving a bowl of mealies in calcium for her at all times and count them every morning to see if she ate anything...
