I am in the process of writing a book about Leopard Geckos. But I can't really think of in my opinion a "good" title.I don't want one to serious but I don't exactly want one tacky/cheesy.I was thinking The Spotted Ones.Give me your comments or other title ideas.

P.S. No one still my idea!

All the writting you're doing for your book must be going to your head :]. Give us a preview of it here!

Why you writing a book on leos? What level to you expect this to be at?

as in.....

-what are your reasons behind your book. Why will it stick out more than the hundreds of other gecko books out there.

-what type audience will your book be aimed for? little kids, big kids, adults?

:main_thumbsup: it'll help us understand a little bit more.

The reason behind me writing this book is pretty much I personally don't like how in etail some books get to the point of confusion.I am just going to write a simple 100 page book and nothing major like Ron Tremper's books. This book won't be aimed to any age group but just to the begineer or advanced hobbyist.

I'm sorry but I don't think your in any postion to be writing a book of that sort on leos. You have experince within only 2-3 correct and only a couple years corect? How could you write about breeding, husbandary, and medical with such little knowledge? IMO if it is well written it would be nothing more than references you like from different sources in your own words.

ExcessiveHerps is basically correct -- if I were you, I wouldn't have publishing aspirations for this book.

If you'd like to do some gecko-related writing that may be publishable, you should pick a specific topic and write a magazine style article on it. That idea is much more workable.

On a related note (and I am sorry if this is hijacking), I've tried that magazine article idea thing for mealworm breeding...would anyone suggest other subjects? I just need things to write about.

sure if youre talking experience, and credit, and all of the sort of scientific regulations then michaels probably not the right person to be writing a book.

but i think its a grand idea to give it a shot. its splended for your own good. why not take some time to write about what you enjoy or find interesting. i dont think were talking about a 'published book' that everyones going to read and get fed bad information. rather than just a nice document of what michael has come across in the trials and tribulations of owning/breeding geckos. :main_robin:

:main_thumbsup: its doesnt have to be cheeky

You might want to take out the breeding part as he hasn't had the chance to do that. I can see your point if thats all he expected from it just the write it for himself and friends and not be published. I wouldn't even go as far as you did and say it would be bad information, its just my personal view that he's not in the postion to be ready to publish and husbandary based book on leos.

I completely understand were your coming from.
I was just trying to point out what i thought michael was aiming for.
by all means i dont think michael even believe it will be published (as all books arent right off the bat) but who knows, maybe some day

Something you might want to consider as an alternative to writing a book, or even as a first step is to write a kind of extended care sheet which can cover all the areas you happen to want to cover. Then you can post it somewhere and see who finds it helpful. I wrote an 8-page care sheet (at 8 pages, I guess it's a bit more than a "sheet") which was very satisfying. If you want to see it, it's posted on Jeanne's website (usageckos.com).
