I hate to do this to you guys but....

We have a male jungle tremper albino het for APTOR possible het RAPTOR

It's going to be quite a while before we're ready to breed, but as we slowly gather a collection together I'd like an idea of what should be at the top of my list to look for at the local expos.

I attempted to use the genetics wizard... but it's been awhile since my last biology class

If I were to breed our male with a mack snow... this is the outcome I came up with... am I horribly wrong? :main_laugh:

12.5% Het. Tremper Albino,
12.5% Het. Tremper Albino, Het. APTOR,
12.5% Het. Jungle, Het. Tremper Albino,
12.5% Het. Jungle, Het. Tremper Albino, Het. APTOR,
12.5% Het. Mack Snow, Het. Tremper Albino,
12.5% Het. Mack Snow, Het. Tremper Albino, Het. APTOR,
12.5% Het. Mack Snow, Het. Jungle, Het. Tremper Albino,
12.5% Het. Mack Snow, Het. Jungle, Het. Tremper Albino, Het. APTOR

I'm also curious about breeding him with a SHTCT, but I don't even know where to begin on how to put that into the wizard
What would the outcomes be say if I
Bred the male to just a SHTCT?
or Bred the male to a SHTCT het for tremper albino?

And my last question... what if I bred him to an APTOR?

Genetics baffle me, I need to look into taking a college course on them :main_yes:

I don't really like calling something "het APTOR", specially something that is already an albino. An APTOR is a patternless stripe Tremper albino and since it's unknown how the stripe/jungle traits work, the only thing you can deduce from there is that your albino comes from a stripe line. You can't know, using the genetics calculator, if the offspring will inherit the patternless stripe trait or not. Probably, the more banded the dam is, the less stripe-ish/jungle-ish the offspring will be.

You cannot use the genetics calculator to calculate line-bred traits or non-monogenic mutations, so the only thing about your male that you could put into it would be the Tremper albino trait (and the eclipse trait if it turns out to be het RAPTOR).

Tremper albino x Mack snow:
50% Mack snows het Tremper albino
50% normals het Tremper albino

All of them can show jungle/stripe influence.

(I saw you put Mack snow as heterozygous, well done!)

Now the SHTCT... Since it is a line-bred trait, it is considered genetically normal.

Tremper albino x SHTCT
100% normals het Tremper albino.

All of them can show jungle/stripe and SHTCT influence.

Tremper albino x SHTCT het Tremper... Well, I'm sure you can do this one alone already.

Jungle Tremper albino het APTOR x APTOR... You would put it in the genetics calculator just as Tremper albino x Tremper albino (which would give you 100% albinos) but because of the pattern of both parents, you would have the greatest chance to produce aberrant patterned offspring, probably even APTORs.

If I were you, I would buy a pretty RAPTOR female to prove if the male is het RAPTOR. If he turns out to be het RAPTOR, half of the offspring will be RAPTORs and the other half 100% het Eclipse (or more commercialy said, 100% het RAPTOR). Even if he isn't het RAPTOR, you would be getting the same results as if bred to an APTOR but the offspring all would be 100% het RAPTOR.

Yes, thank you, Sandra. I have alot to learn about genetics, it's a good thing we won't be ready to start breeding for awhile yet :main_laugh:

Now that we know what to look for, I hope the expo has a nice RAPTOR female :main_thumbsup:
