I have a female that is almost 6 months old and weighs in at 60 grams, I have read that weight has more to do with sexual development than age but I think 6 mos. may be a little to young, I dont want to risk anything she is a sweetie, btw her father was a giant if that means anything???

I've bred large females around 10 months (over 60 grams) and smaller ones around 12 months (over 50 grams). I would think that would be too early.

Definitely, if you breed her at 6 months you will stun her growth and possibly lead to medical issues. I would wait until she is at least 10/11 months old.

I breed at around 8 months, only if there around 60+ grams. 6 months seems a bit young to me, last year I did one 6 month breeding (I thought she was 1 year old because she was 78 grams) And she laid 1 clutch of duds.

Just my opinion

I think the general rule for me is around 8-10 months for females, as long as they are over 60 grams... and over a year old and a well over 50 grams.

I actually looked up her hatch date and it was 3-4 of this year which makes her 7 months old tomorrow, she is such a lil piggy she will gain maybe 10 grams in the next month- up to 70 (at the rate shes been going) Since she most likely is a giant ... I will wait 2 maybe 3 more months so I can monitor her growth rate more accurately and when it seems to slow down or stabilize I will feel safer trying then. My guess would be January. I dont want to do anything that would be detrimental to her health shes such a good girl. Thanks for the help everyone :)

Oh one more ques? I have another girl who is around 13 months but she weighs only 46 grams.. she is healthy but I think that is she is just a petite little thing- I am trying to get her up to maybe 53 before I introduce her to a male.. this would be fine if she is around 12.5 months and has a balanced diet right?
