Those pictures are incredible. I love your new cam.

That second to last picture reminds me of those little round colorful candies that were on strips of paper. Haha, you always ate so much paper when you ripped those off.

Very cool! If it can be reproduced and is not just random then I'd consider it a morph. On the other hand, if it is due to low incubation temperatures then I wouldn't consider it a morph.

I know all that. But does chocolate exist in US as a morph? it does in europe

Oh ok... I misunderstood you. I don't see too many people calling their dark Trempers 'Chocolates'. Most that I do see are from people that don't realize the temperature is what causes it. You don't see any of the experienced people here with 'Chocolates' in their collections. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you or any of the European's are not experienced. It just seems that over here the name was thrown out after it was found that low temps cause this in Trempers. I don't think there's anything wrong with continuing to call them Chocolates, but it can be confusing for newcomers.

Mmm, chocolate...this thread is making me hungry :p.

Anyways, as Michael said...it was used mostly before people realized it was caused by the temps. I still think it's an interesting way to say you have a dark Tremper but not everyone will understand what you're trying to say. It's not a universal "saying?"....so it will confuse some people.

Exactly. I think it's fine to call them Chocolates when in your collection, but the term shouldn't be used on geckos which are being sold.

I think this discussion is very interesting. In sweden breeders say chocolate babies hatch almost colorless and that is a sign... chocolate are (as I've been told) line breed...
I don't "belive" in chocolates my self so this was just a quest to hear what you guys think about it.

But Zarah is beautiful ;)

I would like a pair of bell jungle tangerine like her!

But I can't find any tremper male for her :/ . I will put her with my MS jungle male 2007 to get MS het albino jungles. Hope I can get something nice out of it :D

Yes, as I know, it is only caused by the incubation temps. If you incubate Tremper Albinos on lower temps, they turn out darker.

Don't worry Lottiz, I also got three leos in my collection, that I call Tremper Chocolate Albinos .. . ;)

Yes, I would say, that the temp the leos are kept at has an influence on their coloration. I often saw that german breeders bought Tremper Albinos from the USA or something, and they soon turned darker in a great amount. But it didn't saw any change on my ones, they are german offspring and where already darker, when I bought them. For example, the last one as a hatchling:

But on the other hand, these two Trempers are kept with the two first darker ones, and they never where dark:

And these two as hatchlings:

As you said, 'chocolate' is a common term in Europe to designate brown albinos.

The temps trick is not well known here between non-experienced breeders, and many of them own low quality (no offence here! It's just that lighter geckos are usually more tresaured) albinos that wouldn't make such a difference either cooled or not. So most 'European' albinos, excluding those from reputable breeders, are 'chocolate'.

It is a term that confuses people and should be eliminated as it was in America. I've seen people ask about chocolate albinos as if they were the best of the best, like if it was a line-bred trait difficult to get, when it's actually a term to designate low quality albinos!!

By the way, Zarah is ultra cute!!! And the photos are very nice too!
