Ok, so it's really bright out today, so I took him outside for a little fresh air. Not the nicest lighting, but you can see how bold he is. Thanks for all the nice comments.

Hi Chris, glad you like your Bandito.

A few things on these after numerous emails we've received. Giving credit where credit is due, Bandits were brought into the gecko world by Ron Tremper. We selected the best of the best to refine our line. We really want to keep the bloodline pure so we are sticking to straight Bandits and we track each egg carefully so we know exactly what eggs came from which geckos. All breeding females are singly housed after matings (we do that with all our projects BTW).

We will be doing a few different things, like orange Bandits and various types of Striped Bandits, but all will be "pure" Bandits. Ron doesn't particularly like the orange Bandits but I find them gorgeous, and they keep their nice orange into adulthood and don't wash out. I have a really nice orange Jungle Bandit that has some of the brightest lavender areas on his back that I've ever seen on an adult gecko....the lav and orange look really cool together. I may breed him to Lucky, an orange Striped Bandit from Zorro that some of you may remember.

Bandits can go through various color and bold changes from hatchling to adulthood. But maybe the strangest thing about them is the difficulty sexing them as juvies. Those characteristics can develop much later than other morphs for some weird reason. I've seen 30g males look female, and then all of a sudden they "turn" male around 40-45g. I've seen this several times with this morph. Our albino Giants show very strong male characteristics at 10g in comparison. Not sure if other Bandit breeders have ever discussed this here....I know there aren't a lot of these around yet. Temp sexing does not seem very reliable either.

We kept all our breeding projects to a minimum this year due to the economy, but will produce many more Zorro Bandits next year. He's a very macho guy and we have several nice wives in waiting. Anyway, thanks for your interest in this very intriguing morph.

Here's a pic of the super bold Lucky as a juvie. She is a Zorro Striped Bandit and has gotten very orange now as she matured. She has very unique large spots on all 4 legs and some of the most bold and symmetrical markings I've ever seen. People are shocked when they see her in person, and we've turned down several offers on her as you may imagine. I'll try to take a new pic when I get a chance. Those Zorro genes are pretty crazy...never know what will pop out.

Chris in answer to your question a couple days ago, no I did not produce any bandits this season, I did not mean to imply that, lol, I was in the process of adding one to my crew! That's where the "next season I will make my own snow bandits " statement came from. ;0)
