If it wasn't for petco having a sale on glass tanks I would have stuck with my 10 gal. I feel a multi level hide would have fixed the issues with heat gradients.

Personally, I wouldn't ever keep an adult leo in a 10 gallon. Part of my problem with having reptiles, even though I want to have lots of them, is that I run out of room because I'm anal about making sure they have lots and lots of space. My leo is currently in a long, low 20 gallon as a subadult, and he very well might get something even bigger once he's older. Even my one (pretty small) adult rat is going to be getting a custom built, multi-tiered ferret-style cage.

I think it will depend on the adult size of the leo. I wouldn't keep an adult in anything less then 20 personally. That's just me. My rango is a big girl though so yeah. Im actually making plans on upgrading her to a multistory 29gal. However, she is my first and only leo so i have the room to spoil her without having to worry about other geckos. I can understand 10gals and racks and so on, i don't start any issues on the topic of them.

Mine each have 20 longs and a multilayered hide on the cool end. Here's what my setup looks like.

My geckos seem to love their little tree trunk humid hides. They're made of wood and plastic and sold in the small animal section. There's one in each cage now. I took the light off the bottom one for the picture.

I went to a yard sale and came home with another 20 long. Guess that means I need another leo....:main_rolleyes:

Lucky! I want to get another 20 gallon but it's gonna have to end up with a panther gecko this time. Still, I'm too busy working on getting my mourning geckos to worry about that.

True. I know someone who acquired a 7.5 inch leo, and I said that I didn't personally feel a 10 gallon was big enough for such a large gecko (though, at the time, she had it in a 6 gallon, so I said a 10 gallon would at least be a temporary improvement).

I have a mix of 10s (standard tanks) and a couple 20+ home built tanks. I have one adult male leo that prefers the 10, I have tried him in the 20's multiple times and he stresses out. My male adult snow prefers the 20 and I have a female bold stripe that doesn't seem to care either way. It is really a matter of the reptile and really paying attention to how they are reacting to their homes.

I have my juvenile male leo in a 15 gallon tank. The dimenensions are 12 x 24 floor space. I like this size. Years ago when I kept leo's I had a small breeding colony. I kept two females in a 20 long. I had two males and to be honest I cannot remember what size I kept them in. Separately, of course. But I just can't remember. It may have been 15 gallons then. My juvenile male now is just over seven inches long and still growing. He will probably move up to a 20 long, but only because I have a reptile who has outgrown that size and will be getting an upgrade soon.

-Do you use tanks or tubs?
I use tanks.

-What size setup do you have?
For my leos, I have one in a normal 20 gallon and the other in a 20 gallon long.

-How many leos do you keep together (if at all)?
I don't keep them together

-What is you opinion on the topic of 10 gallon v.s. 20 gallon?
I believe they need a 20 gallon. 10 is far too small as far as I'm concerned. If it is a baby, then okay, but an adult needs a 20.

-Can you show pictures of your 10 gallon?
Don't have a 10, can't.

-How do you maintain a "proper" temperature gradient?
Depends on the season. During the spring and summer I just use the UTH. During late fall and winter I use the UTH and I put on a heat lamp for extra heat, the cages get too cold without it.

-Do you use a lamp for your 10 gallon?
I do for my 20's in the later fall/winter

I'm using a 36lx16hx11d tank for my only leo. I think she's a pretty big girl (9.5" and 81 grams) a little over a year old. I'm no expert, so take my opinion lightly, but the consensus from everything I've read and researched says a 10gal is enough for up to one adult leo to live comfortably and healthy. The rule of thumb was 10gal for every gecko. So two leos = a 20gal minimum and so on. I use a UTH to create the temp gradient and a power/temp monitor to keep the heatpad from getting too hot. I also use a digital thermometer that measures ambient air temperature and humidity.

Older photo of my tank (some hides and items are rearranged, took out the gauges because they were highly inaccurate):

I think that 10 gal is just fine but I personally like 20 gal+ just because there is more space to add things (hides, and decor) considering Echos tank is also acting as a display for my "mancave" lol
