This is a pic of the little guy that hatched yesterday after 35 days of incubation:

He looks like a baby SHTCT, but this is a shock to me, because I pictured him to look different. You will get this when I show the parents.

Here is dad. I think that he will look like his father when he gets older--some spotting on the body and the white tail: The father is SHTCT het. Albino.

Now here is the question: Where is the mom at in it? It looks nothing like the mother. I really wasn't expecting another SHTCT. (And no she is not skinny, last weigh was 55g, after laying 4 clutches this year, last week)

This sweetie, my friend adopted from Petco, I guess someone took it there. He adopted it, because it looks different, but no one, even breeders around our area, knows what it is. We decided to share her, since I feed her and house her. The best guess was some weird chocolate albino. So here is the question, what is the mother's morph, and am I right about the baby's morph? Would the baby be het for it's mother's type, or what?

My friend bred her last year to a normal, and all normals popped out, so I am guessing the mother's trait is very recessive. The baby has a clutchmate that is due any time, so I am awaiting to see what that would turn out to be.

Looks like the mother is a Albino most likely Tremper. So your right that the babies would be normal/tang. het for albino.

How can you tell the baby is a SHTCT? Looks like a wild type baby to me, and I am surely not able to tell what it's going to look like at a later age... Congrats on the first little one!

Here is a pic of her from last year, but she still looks the same, especially since she is about five: My guess is choc. albino or some tremper, but the spotting and whiteness on her head throws me off.

The baby looks normal to me, but it could change a lot as it ages. If the father is het. albino, and the mother is albino, you should end up with 50% albino babies too ;) all other babies that are not albino (like this one) are 100% het. for albino

PS - the momma looks very awesome with the white patterns on its head :D

You can't always tell at birth if the baby will be SHTCT or not. SOmetimes the ones that will be superhypo have more brownish than black banding, but I"ve had dark black banded babies become pastels or super hypos eventually.

That's what I thought as well, but 'Puppiesandkitties' states like he/she already knows what the baby is going to look like! I was just wondering how he/she could tell... ;)
