It's been four weeks and a day, and Amber hasn't laid her third clutch. She's a healthy weight, about 53 grams, has an egg laying box, and is a first time breeder. She's still eating like a beast, has a nice tail, and hasn't laid. From her eating, I don't think she's eggbound, but I don't see any eggs either, but that can be because I'm horrible at looking for them:main_thumbsdown:. What's happening?

She may be done...many of mine have tailed off the egg laying...
I'd say half of my first year females are done. They may still lay one or two here and there but for the most part they are done.

I have one that I know is not done yet. She's layed so may eggs I'm renaming her "The Egg Machine"...12 clutches and she's still going strong... too bad most are infertile...:main_thumbsdown:

Sometimes first time breeders can take awhile between clutches. Do you see any eggs developing inside her when you look at her belly?

I have a first year female that laid her first clutch in 37 days... I'm now waiting for the second clutch, and it has been 32 days... first year females take their time sometimes! ;)

As for her belly, try getting a photo, or gently bend her slightly backwards to see if you can see any eggs or follicles... that will tell you for sure if she is done for this season.

we had one female lay a clutch and then wait two months before laying again. I wouldn't worry too much about her, as long as she's eating, she is ok.
