So you're the one who took Mack Raptor!
It's supposed to be mine! :main_angry:
J/K! :D

What about the eyes of your Mack Rap? Are they solid red?

The reason I ask is that I want to know that do their price depends on the eyes like raptor do or not?

The Mack Raptor has snake eyes.....Like the raptors, the solid eyes will probably be the most desirable. Snake eye to snake eye.....and solid eye to snake eye breeding actually gave me really high numbers of solid eyed animals this year. In fact, I got numerous non-solid eyed animals from a couple solid eye to solid eye pairings this year. So if they are anything like the non-mack raptors, I may get as many or more solid eyed animals from her. But I think more data needs to be gathered from breeders working with these different solid and snake eyed animals to see exactly what is taking place. I, personally, am not getting straight forward recessive type findings from my breedings of the solid and snake eyed animals. I am not a "big" breeder and havent done near enough breedings to come up with anything substantial on this but I have heard similar findings from other breeders I have talked to about this. Just perhaps another little genetic oddity that makes breeding these animals so interesting.

Nice Mike!

Raptors are just not all solid eyed, and you can get both types from any Raptor or Snake Eye breeding. They are not simple recessive genes, the only recessive gene involved is Tremper Albino. So I`m not sure what you mean by "straight forward results". Raptor X Raptor, or Snake Eye X Snake Eye should not give you only the one type. It is just sort of random IMO.

I understand that raptors are not all solid eyed animals obviously....I agree that the solid and snake eyed traits seem more random Dan. But when I initially got into the raptors I was told that the "eye" part was thought of as more of a recessive type trait as far as what you can expect to get out of the different combinations of eyes.

I think they are actually cooperating recessives. Do you mean you got normal eyes from two "Raptor" parents? I`m confused why you said they were not straight forward results.

Like I stated earlier....I got several non-solid eyed animals from two parents that were BOTH solid eyed....and more random findings from snake eye to solid than you would expect to find in typical recessive breedings.....like I was told to expect from these animals.

I thought you just meant they were snake eyes, and if they came from two solid eyed animals, that is what you should expect. That would not mean that they are not recessives. Snake Eyes are the same thing as Raptors, and they are not two seperate genes. Meaning if you breed snake eyes together, you can get both types, and vice versa.

If you bred "Raptors"(snake eyed or not) and did not get 100% snake eyes and/or Raptors, that would mean they are not recessive. I think Alberto had this exact thing happen with his.

Mike, you have no clue how close to getting jumped you were ;) Hahaha, I was drooling over her at Daytona before you got there.

As I am sure you know.... we are going to be trading offspring next year and I can't wait for both of us to hatch some SS raptors!! ;)

No it was Matt's sweat from trying to pry it from my grasp for 15 minutes.

I was sure glad I packed extra underwear ;)
