A question on Bold Stripe related outcomes

I have no experience with Bold Stripes to draw from, so I am looking for input from those who have tried various Bold Stripe and Bold Stripe related crosses.

From reading others' accounts, I realize the historically best/fastest/simplest way to get decent Bold Stripes is to simply cross your best Bold Stripes. But what of Bold Stripe x Other crosses? In this case, I have a Bold Stripe x [insert trait here] future breeder. Now, in my mind, the best/fastest/simplest way to get Bold Stripe offspring from it would be to pair it with a Bold Stripe breeder. However, I am considering other possibilities. Have any of you ever crossed offspring from (Bold Stripe x [insert trait A]) x (Bold Stripe x [insert trait B]) and gotten actual Bold Stripe offspring? Not Stripish. Not Boldish. Acceptable or semi-standard Bold Stripes.

I would rather not produce low quality mud with this breeder, but I am open to a breeder that is from Bold Stripe lines that is itself not a Bold Stripe as long as there would be a good chance of some Bold Stripe offspring if enough offspring from the hypothetical pair were produced.

My default breeder ideal, based on what I said above, is the obvious choice of a Bold Stripe. However, I am seeking input regarding what others have gotten from (BS x A) x (BS x B) crosses. Bold Stripes? Other? Junk?

I will probably just go with a high quality BS and am not seeking persuasion or disuasion in either drection. I am merely curious about the results of others' past breeding experiments of this type.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have produced nice Bold Stripes from breeding Bold Banded "Hets" to each other. That is how I made some of the first Striped Bells.

Thanks! You are right, it is better to start with nice Bold Stripe x Bold Stripe but when you are working on a new project you have to start somewhere. Somewhere I have pictures of my first generation Bell x Stripes but I can't find them. I do have these though, this one is from 2002. Bell X Jungle (yes that is a Bandit, back then these were quite common and were called "Jungles" until for some reason they were re named :p-

Here's one from 2004 and I think the gecko on the bottom left came out of hets from the above cross.

From 2005, the Bell in this pic came from some of my "double hets I'm sure"

Just trying to show some progression type pics to give you an idea (wish I had better ones!).

So, what project did you have in mind for your Bolds? Or is it a secret? :lipsrsealed:

Thanks for those shots. That was faster progress than I had anticipated given the mixed lineage.

Honestly, I am not sure yet and I only have one animal thus far from BS lines. I am still deciding.

Much appreciated.

It is faster than you might think because Bold Stripe acts like a recessive trait, for example, Stripe x Normal = Het Stripe. Het Stripe x Het Stripe = 25% Stripe

I noticed your Showcase from a semi-related Google search and saw your (BSxRS)x(BSxBandit) results, Kelli. I like those. I think I'll play with BS cross x BS cross after seeing some nice results come from these. Thanks again.
