I made a quick trip down to austin yesterday to pick up some geckos and Tim and his wife were kind enough to let my friend and i stop by for a visit last night. I knew he had reptiles, but wow, i was amazed. i have a feeling my house is going to look like that one of these days. it was an awesome experience and i hope to visit again. especially when the alligator swimming pool projects is done ;)

Wow, quite an adventure :) It's amazing what some folks keep. Our friends have a gator living in their hot tub. Only a die hard herper would give up the hot tub for a gator...I'd rather have the hot tub :)

well tim runs a very large rescue operation in austin. pretty much the entire bottom floor of his house, from wall to wall, floor to ceiling is tanks of reptiles. outside he has several buildings dedicated to certain species and then the venomous building. he's converting his inground pool into an alligator habitat as we speak...

Whew, a big rescue is a lot of work! And requires a lot of space. Then there's the expense. Some folks do real well in balancing it all out. Venomous is definitely not my thing, never has been. At shows, I just glance at them, thankful they aren't in my home :)

i could never have hots where i lived, but if i did live outside the city limits, i would be tempted to have a beaded or gila. it really didn't hit me until afterwards that i was two feet from a huge king cobra with no glass between us. after that it was just an adrenaline rush. very cool to see something like that. and tim knows what he's doing. i trusted him while handling this girl. one of the coolest things though is when the door opened, the rattlesnakes all started warning us. you knew they were behind glass, but still made you realize where you were standing.

Awesome! It a good thing I live with my parents at the moment, otherwise my house would very likely start looking like that too! Its very hard not to rescue all the reptiles. I love the gator. Does he get complained at a lot for that one?

Tim and Deb are awesome folks, and he has a fantastic setup. I really like Deb's Uromastyx building.

yeah, they are great people. i got to go in the uro building, but it was late and they were all sleeping. i'll definitely be going back during the day next time.
