Oh dear, that's not good.:main_no: Poor baby.
no those are some good questions, & i dont take it the wrong way. i keep all my geckos with a cap full of calcium w\ vitamin D3 at all times. & yes i have breed before and been carefully selecting the animals i choose to breed.. im NOT your average new commer that thinks i know it all by no means, i know there is still much to learn by far.. that being said im also not one thats wants to blow up the market more than it already is.. for example, lets say i have 100 breeders ok, outta those 100 i may only breed 15 maybe 20 tops.. in no way am i trying to overload myself i believe in quality NOT quantity.. ohter than the incubator craping out on me im not sure what could of caused this to happen.. so i hope this eases your & who ever else's mind some, feel free to voice your opinon & ask questions its cool as i will do the same..I'm not trying to be mean or anything so please don't take it this way.
Have you breed before and do you know exactly what your doing? Was it just because the female didn't get enough calcium ect.
I'm not trying to say your not, just asking some questions to ease my mind and everyone elses.
i get your point completely and yes i do have more egg and yes i did make sure to get the problem taken care of i dont like seeing animlas with problems its sad and not cool.If the clutch mate has an eye malformation, too, either your incubator didn't work properly for a LONG time (at least two weeks between clutches), or something in the genetics of dam and sire is defective. I would check your incubator really well and not breed those parents anymore. Also, if you have more eggs from this pairing, it might be time to toss them before they hatch. You don't want any more crippled geckos to be born. You cannot sell them, so you will need to keep them all without being able to breed them. You shouldn't adopt them out, because they might change hands often, and some irresponsible, uneducated person out there might breed them years down the road.
They can get 20 years old, so you need to be sure what happens to them when you go to college (will your parents be willing to care for special needs geckos? Can you take them with you?). If you don't cull, you have the ethic responsibility to care for them for their lifetime.

no problem im trying to take some good pics of this new hatchling's eyes. i do have a strong gut feeling that this was caused by my thremastat going out in my incubator i did replace it with a new one (a ranco) and now its working the way i want & need it to.Thanks a lot Jessie, good to hear!
