Robin it is completely different! When you put your gecko on sand, they will get more sand in 1 lunge for a cricket than I think should be used in weeks of "digestion aid" sand. I don't see how you can compare an amount you can barely see, to an inch plus of sand.

first off i dont feed crickets but. how do you know how much they will chose to ingest if sand is left in a bowl? and lets say ya do feed crickets on sand. ok look at the size of a cricket how much sand do you think they can "hold". i doubt more than a couple of specks at most. do you think the gecko goes around eating mouth fulls of sand?

no really all most of you are doing is justifying sand use, thats it. but god forbid the people who use sand. they are bad keepers that do not care about their geckos. and then the goody goody anti sand people " i would never even risk putting my gecko on any sand. i love him/her too much" but you'll feed it to em, eh?

did VMS say a couple of specks? how do you know that is okay for them, maybe they need more?
i didnt see where VMS said "i use two specks of sand and some eggshell to help aid in digestion"

did you know that crickets are bred on sand? (normally) so if you feed crickets i wonder what the chances are you already got your two specks of sand is? i bet pretty darn good. two specks

i never said i dont use sand. i accually think sand is fine used in proper proportions. including feeding out of a dish, a various other "rules". i just think too meny people are extreamests. i used sand for 3 years befor i started breeding and never, ever, once, had a single problem. i think the people that only use sand are asking for some problems, but its not gareenteed.

I

personally have purchased 5 Leos from them. All are super healthy and eat better than any other geckos I have. If they say "they" use sand to help digestion in breeding females, who cares?!? That certainly does not make them ignorant or incapable of providing healthy specimens.

You can't blame people for trying things you may not. If they killed 500 geckos because of their sand practices, we would/should have an issue.

I personally will buy many more geckos from VMS, and will recomend them to anyone....

Besides no where in any of their writings does it say you "MUST" do this....:main_thumbsup:

chris agree. what works for one may not necessarily work for another. they are saying how they do it not that you have to do it.. i still would like to hear there info and research. i think it would be beneficial to all of us
