If there both males then thats a no because they will fight. Adding another leo regardless of the sex can be risky. Even females will bully other females.

You need to quarantine the new addition first, as well, before even considering introducing them. And +1 to ReptileMan's comment.

when you quarantine the new one you could put in a viv close to the other one and at least they can see each other and if you see any signs of agression you can put a piece of card board between and then try again another time

The only problem with the exo-terra tanks is that they are taller than they are long, and leos need the floor space. If you have a square exo-terra, it's probably 12"x12" which is even a bit marginal for one leo. If you want 2 leos together I would recommend one of the following ideas:

--sell your exo-terra and get a 20 gallon long
--set up a second story in your exoterra by making a platform maybe 6"x12". You can use a mini (1-5 gallon) zoo-med heater sandwiched between 2 tiles to heat the upper story. There is lots of info in the forums about making platforms. Someone on here awhile ago had a lovely 3-level set-up in an exoterra for her leopard geckos.

yeah i have a regular 20 gallon... its not a long though... would that be better for them? i have a large amount of slate in my garage as well that i can use instead of sand... the only problem is that i do not have a lid for the tank so where would i put the light? with two leo's do i need two hides on each side (hot and cool)? it will be a male and female so what conditions will they need. I am picking up the second leo on monday so i have one day to set up the new tank.

The regular 20 gallon (12"x24") would be better than the exoterra. There are lots of covers for that size on ebay and you should eventually get a cover, especially if you have any other pets (like cats). There's another post by someone whose gecko escaped even with the cover. As long as you have the under tank heater, you don't need lights. If you're committed to lights, you could find something to clamp the light to and shine it into the tank. For multiple leos it's best to have multiple hides so everyone has a place to go.
Please make sure you have considered the following:
--quarantine your new gecko from the other (separate cages) for at least a month
--if you're going to house male and female together:
--is the female big enough and old enough to breed?
--are you prepared to incubate eggs, house babies and find them appropriate homes?

If you can't answer "yes" to both these questions, please keep the male and female separate until you can answer "yes".
