I am thinking very tentatively about getting an AFT (or a pair) some day. From what I've been reading, most people keep them on paper towel or tile (which is what I do with my leos) and mist periodically. I'm not thrilled with the idea of misting either substrate. I would imagine keeping an AFT with their greater humidity needs similarly to my crested gecko: a planted tank with an eco earth substrate (and maybe some sphagnum moss on some or all of the tank floor). Since an AFT needs belly heat and a crestie doesn't, there would be about a third of the tank with tile and a UTH, or else a UTH against the back wall and no tile. There would be lighting during the day for the plants. Does anyone keep their AFT's like this? Is it practical?

Here is how I house mine. I use Repti-Bark as a substrate.

I was told the coco fiber was good for AFT's but with the person that told me I disregarded it lol
I can only say from my experience with it. Been using it for a few years for my AFT and like it.
