Hi.

I got a new male and female 2 days ago and the male is fine, but the female(almost 2 years old) is really aggressive and doesn't eat at all.
She is really scared and tries to bite me as soon as my hand enters the cage.
What should i do?

Try to leave her alone for as long as possible. When you have to put your hand in to feed her, wear a glove if you feel she's going to hurt you, but try to be in the cage as little as possible. Talk to her so she gets used to you. She may take awhile before she eats but she will eventually.

I am not really afraid of biting i just get startled and don't want her to drop her tail or hurt her.
Yeah i guess i just leave her alone for a while but even when i feed her she looks really scared and runs around.
But she never eats.

How long have you had her? Sometimes it takes them a while to adjust to a new place. Is she pooping? She could be impacted, I suppose.

My geckos were extremely skitish when i got them too. It just takes time and patience :main_yes:

I would leave her alone until she settles in and eats. THen, slowly start introducing your hand. We have a very aggresive male that still doesn't like being handled and he's been getting worked with for about a month now. Just be patient.

It takes awhile for some of them to acclamate to their new homes. Just be patient with her. Most of them come around in a couple weeks or so and start eating.

yeah just give her a little while she will relax. I have a female raptor and when I first got her she was evil. Any time I went near her cage she would come out of her hiding spot and if I reached in to clean anything she would charge my hand and try to bite.
After about a week of her relaxing she is now a sweetheart. She still comes out of her hiding when I open her cage but atleast its not to bite me now. lol
My little DB female I just got is the same way but she dont bite. Just comes out when ever I have to do something in the cage.

Did you get her from a pet store or online from a breeder?

If you got her from a breeder, chances are she is used to living in a plastic "shoe box" type container w/ a bare minimum of furniture.
If she is now in a glass terrarium, she may need more time to adjust.
Glass is a new thing! :D

Sometimes it's best to even put cardboard panels on the glass terrarium walls and remove them one at a time as she acclimates.

If you have another set-up, move the male so they are sepperate for a while.

Give her privacy, and avoid loud noises and quick movements.

She will come around in time, just be patient and dont FORCE her to make contact with you.
The main thing is that she is eating and pooping normal, since thats OK, she just needs some attitude adjusting! :D
I have had a few like that too, and they always end up happy and social (to some extent) :main_yes:
