Alby's method and condensation

I tried finding this information, but didn't see it in the history... I have read from some breeders that you should keep the lid to your egg box tilted up (open on one side) so that any condensation does not drip directly on the eggs. However, with Alby's method, the lid stays shut tight. I have my egg box in my incubator ready to go for the day that my ladies drop their eggs. I mixed the perlite just as Alby's method indicates. Now I see condensation on the lid of the egg box and am afraid that water could drip directly on the eggs. Any suggestions or personal opinions about this would be greatly appreciated.:sweatdrop:

We use Albey's method, works great :main_thumbsup:

Although I'll be interested in seeing the S.I.M. Reptile Egg Incubation Containers :main_lipsrsealed:

I have never seen condensation on the lid of my sealed containers with Albey's method. It seems to me that the water droplets are all under the perlite. I don't know what to suggest.

I honestly haven't seen any condensation on the top of the lid either now that I think about it. I usually see it along the sides under the perlite as well.

That is strange. Seems like it is too moist maybe? I mixed it exactly as directed. I used an accurate postage scale that tares. I certainly don't think having water drops falling on eggs is a good idea...

I don't measure how much water I add to perlite. I add perlite to my containers, spray in some water and mix it up. I then put the lid on and stick it in the incubator. The next day if there are large water drops on the lid I take it off, shake off the drops, and replace the lid. I do this every day until there is only a light mist on the lid, then it's perfect.

If I don't see any droplets on the side of the container near the perlite, or the eggs start to dent, I add more water to the side of the container.

It's not an exact method but has worked fine for me for the last 5-6 seasons.

I'm not suggesting that anyone else would do this, but here's what happened when we first used Alby's method. We put the container on the scale, added perlite until it said "50g" and then did the math to find we needed 40g water. A few days later we realized we hadn't taken into account the weight of the container. So naturally, there was way more water than needed. It was our first time with eggs, so we were a little too excited! :)

We just wanted to point out this little mistake that we made. Hopefully that is the problem with the condensation, then it's easily solved!
