Nice. I'm about at that stage right know with mine most of the mealies have turned to aliens and have some beetles. I think I'm on my third generation , but no pix . will try to snap some.
I've been breeding mealies a few years... I don't like to refrigerate them so everyday I have to pull aliens from the mealie bins and move them to the ''mothership''... I also put any beetles found aboard the ''mothership'' into the ''arena''...
How long does it take for you to start seeing mealies in the beetle bin after they have been put in? I started raising mealworms about a month and a half ago and now have about 20 beetles(only started with 150). When will baby mealies start to appear? The beetles are about three weeks old.
I use to keep a heating pad under my bins and I'd have baby mealies in less than a month... Now I do it at room temp and it can be a few months before I have mealies big enough to feed to my gex... So even though I have beetles constintly producing more mealies I still have to buy 5000-10000 a month...
That pic is from a while back, and was at a peak time in my pupae count. I've hit a lull right now, but wow do I have a lot of big mealies just waiting to change, should be back up to that many real soon!
I have a question. I put about 200 mealies in the box a couple of weeks ago. I saw some white mealies in there today but aren't they white just after they shed? How do you know when they're "aliens"? Thanks
I don't have a recent pic on the computer, but I have about 1000+ right now. I've been pulling 200 or so from the worm drawers everyday. Some of them change so quickly.

Reading this thread makes me remember when I first got into reptiles & I opened a tub of mealies I had for awhile and all I saw were these and 2 beetles...I dropped the tub somewhere and ran outside on the patio.
