As the title suggests, my leo is almost always in his humid hide. Is this normal? I'm afraid it's too cold in there for him to properly digest his food. I use paper towel as the hide substrate, and I keep it damp, and it's fairly cold to the touch. He his a dry hide on the warm side of the tank, but never really uses it. I have a temperature probe there, and I know the temps are optimal (88 to 92.) Is this something I should be concerned with?

Nah, perfectly normal. The gecko most likely HAS been on the warm side, so nothing to worry about. After all, how do you know what it does while you're asleep? ;) :D. Another option, check your thermometer too. It might be too large a temp for the gecko to deal with if your uth's thermostat has malfunctured or something.

My leo loves her humid hide too. She doesnt like to leave it except for dinner!
She actually uses all her hidding caves. After dinner, she retires to the cave on the warm end. At about mid afternoon, she likes the cave on the cool end. All other times, she is in the humid one (with is right in the middle) :D

My leo does the same thing. She loves her humid hide. Just make sure there's a warm area in there so that they can adjust themselves if they feel the need.

Yeah, they seem to know what they need.
Also, if your other hidding caves are not dark and private enough, they may not want to use them.
I think if you make sure to just keep it damp and not wet, shouldnt have a problem.
Also, check your temps. I have noticed that a lot of cheap herp thermometers are not very acurate.
If possible, get one of those laser thermometers. I know they are expensive, but the higher end ones (starting at about $50.00) are pretty acurate, and you can actually measure the temp inside the humid hide with it.

also, in the wild they would look for someplace cool, damp, and dark (such as under a rock) to hide in during the day.
