i covered the window in my room so not much light gets in and all my cages are uth only so if i leave with the door shut and the bedroom light off then its dark in the room all day and night. should i put a light in the room thats on a timer for maybe 12hrs a day just so the geckos have ambient day lighting? basically do they need ambient light or do is straight darkness just fine?

I would definitely suggest providing some sort of means for a day and night cycle. They will sleep and rest better, and be more active in a consistent regimen.

So i'd definitely keep the sunlight from beaming onto their enclosure, and do whatever you can to provide an ambient light that won't affect temps..

good luck! :)

Just uncover the window in your room. It should provide a normal day/night cycle without needing any kind of lighting.
