Just a lizard, what's the big deal ;)

:main_laugh:I dont know Paul:main_laugh:... Maybe its a big deal because it is one of the rarest of varanids in captivity in the US??? There are only a couple of zoos and private keepers with this species... What makes this one so special is that it is the only female that I know of... The male will be here in a few weeks... Nicey nice...

hey gregg, how different are the caging and husbandry requirements for the diff. types of varanids?

Depending on the species it could be night and day... Some varanids are aquatic, some need to be kept in arid conditions... Some are terrestrial and others are more arboreal... Obviously the size of your caging will depend on the adult size of the species... Some species can be kept in groups in a 4 foot by two foot cage and others you may need cages that are 6 to 8 feet long to house a single animal... But for the most part, they all need to be kept very warm and they all can eat you out of house and home... LOL
