Out of all three dogs she is the only one that chews...we have tried (on numerous occasions) leaving her out of the cage with the other dogs but it is still the same chewing problem. I appreciate everyones help and will def try some of the things mentioned

i don't think leaving her out, would be the thing to do. I would crate the other dogs, you might fell bad about this at first, but they should get use to it. It might also helps the other ones to come down when you come home. Personally i wouldn't say anything to them, when i got home or left. when i get home, don't make eye contact, don't touch them, and don't talk to them. Just open the crate door, and let them go outside for a little while. By the time they come back in, they will be over the exictment of you being home. I think that this could help you out a lot. Then i would make sure, she is still getting her walks. Also does she have a little more energy than your other two dogs?

Ummm..she has more overall energy than JD and probably Perdia too but they are all maniacs when we get home. I wouldnt mind putting Persia in the crate too but hse is really our roommates dog and he is not ok with it, and well Mikey is def not ok with crating JD since he NEVER does anything wrong (seriously hes so great). He hasnt been crated in years and would not be ok with it. I will try the other things said and then we may have to do something alittle more extreme if nothing else works.

Okay. Well definitely try and calm it down when you get home. If the dogs act like maniacs when you get home, this is a huge red flag that you are not calm enough yet. And I can not stress enough WALK, WALK, and more WALKING. I think that will be an amazing help to you. I would say at least an hour a day for all the dogs. You could also have you room mates help you walk them. Or take turns, and switch on and off days. If walking is simple not an option train her to walk on a treadmill. If you need help on how to train a dog to do this, as it seems like a crazy idea, just say so, and I will be glad to respond. But I swear it should do wonders for you, and you can have her do it while you get ready in the mornings. I think if you walked all three of them, that it shouldn't be to big of a deal for the other dogs to be out of the crates, as they would be tried, and just lay around. I also HIGHLY recommend watching the dog whisper. This show is really very great, and has been a huge help to me, and my dogs. My relationship with all three is so much better than it use to be, and all exhibit no behavior problems, which I couldn't have said 6 month ago. I have also provided a link at the bottom of both of his book, which you could probably rent from your local library, instead of buying, although I would recommend buying both of them. I don’t want to sound critical of you, in any of this; I am just sincerely trying to help you.

Here are the links. If you only read on read the second one. It is much more helpful. The second one is Be the Pack Leader

I really do think doing all of these things will help you. Just remember you have to stay consistent at it, you can’t walk her one day, and not the next, and then blame the behavior on the dog, when you have not truly done everything you can to help her, first.

I really hope I have helped you at least some. Seriously though, read both of these books, and watch a few episodes of “The Dog Whisper”.

I kind of agree to crating all the dogs so that Soco doesn't feel alone or whatever. I know when the St Bernard/ Collie gets put up and none of the other dogs do, she behaves worse than if all crated.

Since Soco has a higher energy level, she requres more exercise than what you've been doing. Walk her, run her, something.

The "Dog Whisperer" techniques doesn't work for everyone, and it's not always a fix to the problems. Just because you watch the show, doesn't mean that you'll be able to implement all the techiniques just as he does. By the way, I've read those books, and I don't really see how they'll help here; they have great general tips, but I dunno... Cesar Millan isn't as great has he makes himself out to be.

The key here, is definitely more exercise and setting up a routine.

i agree with that....

i guarantee your dog really really wants to be out of the crate if the other 2 are just running around...if the only problem is chewing i would say get some sort of dog muzzel te you take off when you come home...but i dunno it is kind of inhumane..but hey if its what you need...then its what you need

A regular muzzle would NOT be a good idea....fabric muzzles should never be left on a dog unnattended and will interfere with normal behavior....such as panting.... A wire muzzle is less invasive...but still should not be left on a dog that is unnattended.

third that, muzzle thing, that is very unsafe. I think if you give her daily walks, either on the treadmill, or outside, and have a routine for this, that she would be a lot better. Keep us updated though. You other option, if we are not helping you, would be to call in a professional who works with dogs like your on a daily basis. I don't know what else they would tell you to do, but if it comes to that, that is what I would do.

I know I might be late but my sister had a similar issue with a German Shepard puppy she bought ten years ago. She was super adorable but so destructive. Each time my sister left the house she would come home to find her $200 bed set ripped to shreds, kitchen titles pulled up, bit and pieces of sofa all over the place. She serioiusly thought about getting rid of her after crating and tieing her up were NOT working. Finally she gave in and hired a personal dog trainer, $1,000 later she has a great dog that she's has for ten years now. You might want to think of getting a dog trainer that can help you with your specific dog and his/her problem it might be expensive but think of all the things she's ruined and all the headahces it might be worth it.

If shes chewing in my opinion she could just plan old bored. My dog was like that as a puppy she ruined books, blinds, stands, plants, etc. that I had to block her off to only the hall way all the room doors closed with a baby gate at the end. I broke it into potty area (paper trained, yes she tiny), sleeping area, eating area, and play area with a bunch of toys I even hung a few things she can play with. I even left the tv or radio on a cartoon or soft music so she didn't fill to alone.
