So I literally drug my boyfriend to the Hamburg PA reptile show yesterday. I was thrilled with all the tables filled with reptiles, especially the ball pythons and off course, leos. He wasn't so much. Well apparently he saw something that caught his eye but it was to crowded to get a good look at what they were. They were some sort of heavier set lizard with black and red/orange coloring's and what looked like a spiked tail. If anyone knows what this was please tell me because at one point he actually thought about buying one and thats all he talked about on the ride home, so if I can find out what it is, then I'm going to be a good girlfriend and surprise him with one.

was the red/orange colour surrounding the eye? If you plan on getting him one, make sure you get him to research their care.

I fully plan on that. I've been keeping leos for close to 11 years now so I don't plan on rushing into it, and I believe so but it was so crowded around that table that I honestly didn't get a close enough look to make sure that the coloring was around the eyes as well.

It was bigger, kind of reminded my of a gila monster in a way..but had the spiked tail. I was so focused on finding my geckos I didnt even take notice of the name of the vendor or that my boyfriend was actually interested in a reptile, if I'd have known I'd have stopped so we could of found out what they were!

If she didn get close enough to see the eyes then why would she say red and black? The only "red" part of a crocodile skink is its eyes, and normaly its just orange.

It wasn't a knob tail, I know what they look like. It looks very much like the above link, and my boyfriend agrees although he insists there was mor black patterning but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

Some are very black.
Google them, and you'll see all the different colours.
