sorry, but i wasnt trolling at all...

didnt mean to get anyone upset, but i dont find it any different then feeding a mouse to a snake? a mealworm to a gecko? i dont think its right to say that a gecko's life is any more precious then a mouse or worm.

It might be worthless but it is my own opinion and I am entitled to have one. Not sure why you act so childish though. That first comment you made earlier that for some reason I cant find anymore was only said to try to push the buttons of other people.
And yeah that is basicly what a troll does.

My herpetology professor has one of the legless geckos in his collection, Lialis burtonis, he keeps it in an adequately sized tank with proper temperature, a water dish and plant to hide in. It spends most of its time chilling in the leaves and gets one anole whenever it eats the one that came before it. A very cool animal but not for everyone I'd say.

Hmm, I wonder if they only eat small lizards. I've heard of some snakes that will only eat anoles or small frogs.

Interesting animal, I've always had strange fascination with legless lizards.

Not trying to start anything here or offend anyone, but this is my thought on the feeding on the leo picture...I know of several people who cull deformed leopard gecko neonates that have hatched out by feeding them to predatory lizards such as monitors. What if this was another case of culling? What if it was even euthanized before the feeding? I know not everyone agrees with this form of culling, but if that was the case I would hesitate to call the owner an irresponsible reptile keeper...

That pic of it starting to eat a leo was grim.

Sure the link itself would have been alright if not for that purely controversial pic that the the author obviously knew would get these types of reactions.

This is not the norm people, in the wild that legless lizard would never encounter a leo being that there isn't any loes in australia due to the fact they are illegal to keep, breed or import. Anyone found trying to import one gets slapped with a Hefty fine and prison time. So how do they think its ok to feed a leo to it? i was watching a couple of vids on youtube the other day when i came across one called Ackie vs leo. Man i shouldn't have clicked on it because it was exactly as the title stated. I swear these people have problems. :main_angry:

there's nothing even slightly disturbing about feeding reptiles...to insist that one reptile is more suitable as a feeder than some other reptile is a bit over the top in my book.

Rob, I agree. The only reason people are finding this so offensive is because they're placing a 100% artificial, human-based 'value system' on the gecko and not on the legless lizard. It's a knee-jerk reaction. This is a case of the proverbial 'cute and furry' against the evil 'teeth and scales'.

Leopard geckos get eaten, folks. As far as feeder lizards go, leopards generally aren't used because their monetary value as pets exceeds the cost of normal feeders. I personally don't see any problem with feeding leopards to other reptiles. We feed live mice to snakes all the time or live pinkies to leos and most of us don't even cringe. There is no logical difference. Life is life, death is death, and us placing more value on a leopard gecko than another feeder just shows our inherent bias.

However, I do agree that posting an image like this on an almost exclusive gecko forum is a bit tasteless. It was an honest mistake though it seems, so no worries on my end.

I don't agree but hey, Everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

Insects, rats and mice are pretty much found world wide. A reptile eating any of those is the norm, no different than a lion eating a spring buck or a snake eating a rabbit for example.

But to go out of your way to buy something that the animal in question would NEVER find in the wild and feeding it to it is pretty messed up.

To say its ok would mean that you would think buying a litter of kittens and feeding them off to a large snake would be just fine??

Because thats exactly what that way of thinking suggests.
Like i said, the link itself with info and regular pics would have been great hey, but putting a pic like that on it just ruined it imo.

But its all good, everyone has their own opinion I'm merely stating mine.

I'm not going to comment on the controversy because even I have an inner debate about feeders and all that... but just wanted to say that I've never seen those before and they look pretty interesting.

Did anyone look at the site's Eublepharidae page? I just thought there was a bit of humor there with the descriptions of the three leopard gecko pictures. :p And don't worry, no eating pictures at all on that page.
