Hey im Melissa,
Im Searching for someone who needs to get rid of their Leopard geckos in the general area of (licking county,OH) and they just need to find them a new home. I myself use to own 2 leopard geckos one albino, one vivid colored but due to reacent events i had to move and couldnt ship them. So now im searching for a new set of pets for my new 50gallon tank I was gifted. If any one knows some one giving away leopard geckos let me know so I can have some tailed children to love again :D

Personally, I dislike ther term "get rid of". To me, we want to get rid of things like: junk, split ends, zits, ants, unwanted pounds, etc. To "get rid" of a beautiful, gentle creature like a leopard geckos simply does not fit that catagory. Sorry...

Agree with Marcia....I never like to use the term "get rid of" when it comes to living things.
Also, how would we know if you would actually keep these new geckos in the case of another move? Sorry, but it's not that hard to bring animals along if you can find a place that allows you to keep them. I moved across the US with a dog, cat, 3 rabbits, toad, and 4 betta fish in tow.
If I were to ever give up (not get rid of) my geckos, I would find a more suitable home for them.

Id use the term relocate... or just say I'm happy to receive geckos that need a new home!

I knew what you meant tho, There are plenty of leo's that deserve good homes from neglected ones, Id recommend hitting up your local pet store, I know around here they has a petco that takes in reptiles for adoption from people who cant take care of them anymore. Or simply a shelter or something along those lines. Make sure to ask questions on Leo's if you are questioning anything about taking care of them nowadays. We are all here to help.

None of what I typed was meant in a deragatory term towards geckos so no need to be so judgemental on my phrasing of things thank you. And for the record when I moved I moved states in a quick notice the air line I had wouldnt let leopard geckos on the flight and I didnt trust their saftey if I had to check them under the plane. I was scared that if I checked them that they would be mishandled or hurt so I didnt bring them based on saftey. Also I can not afford the 150 shipping fee that local places such as UPS wishes to charge to ship them also once again they cannot GARUNTEE their saftey. So in all regaurds to repliers picking apart my speach I love my animals very much but for their own saftey id rather had left my geckos back with family then risk thier lives so I could be happy with them in my new location. The reason I see new pets now is because for the moment I feel a small void where I use to have my 4legged kids and I wish to fill it with another set I can love and if there comes a day when I can raise the money to get my other two geckos back I now have a large enough space I can keep them all in happly. Next time dont judge so quickly because it hurts to be accused of not careing deeply for something based on wording alone.

I did not state 'YOU' in my comments at all, so no judgment was intended. I simply stated how 'I' feel:

I've just never understood people asking for free geckos. They're pretty inexpensive

I think this goes under the same category of adopting dogs or cats. If there is a gecko or other reptile that someone can no longer take care of, why not go for that option to find someone to help them out. It's a lot more common to have animal shelters that take in dogs and cats, not reptiles. Even with the amount of shelters available for dogs and cats people still just abandon them instead of bringing them to a shelter. If there is someone who can no longer take care of their reptile, isn't it better to find someone who can help you out instead of abandoning it? There are plenty of people out there who just let their herps go free in their neighborhoods because they think "they can handle it, they're animals". People who ask for free gecko's are probably trying to find people who can no longer take care of their pets.

If you could not afford to ship your geckos I am afraid you cannot afford to own leopard geckos in my opinion. How will you properly care for them especially if one becomes sick and a vet is needed?

So giving someone else a gecko who can't afford it is any better? Lol

this isn't always the case. there are people out there who can afford it but would look at finding someone who can't take care of theirs first. if they can't find anyone then they'll probably just buy one anyways but it doesn't hurt to check it out first.

I think we have have jumped the gun assuming the OP couldnt afford her own.
I am VERY pro adoption, especially when it comes to dogs and children. Possibly the OP is the same way.
Maybe a polite 'no, I don't have any' or no comment at all would have been more proactive.
