I'm not sure if aptor or eclipse. Solid black eyes, 6 mos. old, male and female same clutch, even hatched at the same time.

You have RAPTORs. Some people sell RAPTORs under the label of APTORs for reasons only they seem to know and I don't care to ask about, by the way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm new at this, but to be RAPTOR wouldn't they have to have red eyes?

Those are solid black. So they're APTOR, are they not?

RAPTOR = Eclipse + Tremper Albino
Aptor is essentially a Raptor that is not expressing the Eclipse Gene.. Aptors have Normal Albino Eyes
Here is My Aptor:

This Is My Raptor Male(2 Snake Eyes):

Eyes in the Raptors can Be Solid , Half(Snake eyes), Or any other % . They Appear to Be Black But because they are albino (Lacking Black) The eyes are a Deep Deep Red

That makes sense and it's consistent with the answers here. I wish I remember where I read that RAPTORs have red eyes only, though.

I think it said something to the effect of "RAPTOR stands for Red-eyed, Amelonistic, Patternless, Tremper, ORange" So that's wrong then?

Khrysty, in order for it to be a RAPTOR it needs to be albino. tremper albino eyes have verying shades of red (to DARK RED almost black). because the eclips gene which is what makes the solid eye color combinding with a dark albino eye it can cause it to appear black.

Now I think I understand, because their father is about 4 years old now and when I got him he had ruby red eyes and now they are blacker, from what I understand they get thicker over the years and just get darker. That doesnt mean he is no longer a raptor. Since they are albino they cant be black. Some are just born with a thicker lens over their iris.
(That is my understanding now.....:))

Temperature has a lot to do with it. The lower the incubation or housing temps, the darker the eyes will typically be with Trempers.
