Hi,
this gecko hatched two months ago and has no black on his body, but the eyes are dark like from a non-albino. Temperatures are not on the lower end and the eyes have never been lighter as they are now. Just to make sure - it is an albino or would you say no? Thanks, Andrea

id say yeh still looks like an albino. just quite a dark eyes thats all. not quite dark enough for a normal eye though. others might disagree though so id wait for others to say what they think.
but ive got an albino with a really dark eye, and i know he's albino.

How could a normal eyed RAPTOR be anything but an APTOR?

Aliza

Because it is possible to have an Eclipse with no blackout of the iris.

This has been really confusing to me. In other words, the defining sign of eclipse is the white nose and not the eye pattern?

Yes, the white nose is the only 100% consistent trait. Tail speckling is very common, but can be masked by other traits, and the eyes can range from 100% coverage to none at all.

whu...? im sure eclipse is called eclipse as it is an eclipse of the eye. like a full eclipse... hence the name? ... im pretty sure only snake eyes and full eclipse and red eyes count as homozygous for eclipse. the white nose pops up alot without eclipse being involved.
am i seriously missing something about eclipse here?

Sorry for the absence, I was quite buisy at work..

Yes the parents are het Eclipse, I had some Eclipse hatchlings in this breeding group. As well one eclipse (black) eye of another hatchling changed into a snake eye and one snake eye is changing to a normal eye, I think this is what Tony C means - the eyetrait can fade away with age but the nose still marks the trait.

Unfortunately I was not able to make a picture of the eyes of the hatchling above shortly after hatching, whenever I tried my luck the eyes were closed, no trick like covering the head helped.

Yep. :D The eyes are very unpredictable in Eclipses. I have several baby eclipses who hatched with snakes eyes which faded to normal. It is a common occurrence and there have been quite a few posted by different breeders recently.

I would test breed it when it is old enough, I suspect you have a RAPTOR with normal eyes.
