Need some help here.....The parents are Total Eclipse (Super Snow Eclipse) x Snow Raptor. According to the calculator there is a possibility of Mack Snow Eclipse het TA or Total Eclipse het TA. They, obviously to me, do not look like Total Eclipses. So are they Mack Snow Eclipses? I am confused with the slight yellow that I am seeing. These pictures are at one day old. Sorry that they are not better pictures, but these little girls are feisty and very active.
Thanks for any advice.:main_thumbsup:

They look like they could be eclipse to me but too yellow to be snows if they're a day old.
That is what i am thinking. I see the eclipse markings, white nose, etc. But, everything I have read, says the mack snow eclipse hatch with no yellow. Strange that I am getting just eclipse, with both parents having either super snow or mack snow genes. WIERD!! Thanks!

Well if it makes you feel any better, I have a total eclipse that has only 1 snow parent! Something must be going on that we dn't know about!

I agree, Aliza! I have always used the reptile calculator before pairing up my geckos. This has me really stumped. Both the Total Eclipse and Snow Raptor came from reputable breeders. There was no way these eggs got mixed up, because all of my geckos are house individually.

Well, it has been confirmed...these are Mack Eclipses. Verified the parents morph for no hets with the breeders. They also confirmed the hatchlings. Basically, they said snow x snow has no choice, but to be snow.:main_thumbsup:

to me not snow as snow do not show yellow pigment in non albino as hatchlings (especially mack eclipse), and snow X snow make matematically the same amount of snow than snow X non snow, in a case all others would be non snow and in the other case others would be half supers and half non snow)...only super snow X anything produce only snows...

I understand...but these are the product of a Super Snow Eclipse and a Snow Raptor. Both parents have the "snow" genes.

OK so now it's different if one parent is a super snow (and not just snow), yes it's obviously a snow as super produce 100% snows...but actually it doesn't depend if both parents are snows as 2 snows can produce normals, it produce 100% snows only if one parent is a super, doesn't matter if the other parent is snow or not...

On the paper, snow produce matematically this:

Snow X non snow = 50% snow 50% normal
Snow X snow = 50% snow 25% super 25% normal
Super X non snow = 100% snow
Super X snow = 50% snow 50% super
Super X super = 100% super

They look like they could be snow eclipse. The few I hatched were either very dark or sort of yellow like that. I think I've only hatched one that was black and white like a typical mack snow.

Sorry to bust in but I had a few similar babies hatch from snow parents and several local breeders confirmed that they were indeed snow eclipses since both of the parents were snow, there is no chance for normal.
Even though this pairing was a bit of a freak incident since the mother wasn't even known to be het for eclipse. [Total eclipse x mack snow het eclipse]

It is a bit strange though how they look.. You'd expect them to be far less yellow although judging from other images it doesn't seem that strange.
Either way congrats on your lovely babies!

No, that is fine to bust in. That is what this forum is all about!! Exchanging what we learn! Thanks for your input. I now even get a glimpse of how they will look as adults!!

I have also (since I posted above) hatched a very dark but yellowish likely Mack snow eclipse, pictured below. It's actually even darker than that seen in ambient light in the evening:

Wow, during the last few months, I've really had to adjust my view of Mack Snow versus normal! Amazing how much variety there is, especially when adding in Eclipse.

Thanks to everyone who's posted pictures here. Helps newbies like myself get better at recognizing morphs. :)

Out of curiosity if these are considered a bit out of the norm, what a normal mack snow eclipse baby/hatchling look like?

I believe this is normal for low temp incubation. Not many people post pictures of the hatchlings because they are not that striking. But, they turn into beautiful adults!

I know, the Mack Snow gene is one of my favorites. Look what you get when you cross the super snow with the eclipse gene.....pretty awesome!
