Are your Enigmas messy?

All but a couple of my Enigmas are the biggest slobs in my collection! They mess up their enclosures on a daily basis... dumping mealworm bowls, walking through the calcium and getting it everywhere, pooping in their water bowls and on top of their hides. Their tubs look like they had a frat party after every night!

Are your Enigmas like that?

Ohhh! Yes! Messy, Messy, Messy. I had to switch to computer paper due to the persistent rearranging of the their tubs. The paper towel would be on top of their hides soaking wet from the water dish and a nice paste of calcium all over the tub from the calcium getting wet! But I still love em!

Eric, mine constantly 're-arrange' everything in their enclosures, too! Lawrence is the worst one... I call his place a 'bachelor pad' it gets so messed up!

I’ve never made the connection with the enigmas being he messy ones. But, now that you mention it the messy ones are the enigmas. The pooping on the top of the hides (all the time), the messing up the water bowl, etc…

My bell enigma Ludwig makes the most horrible messes of all my leos.

Calcium EVERYWHERE, water dish dumped, paper towels rearranged and crumpled up.. You name it.

Oh - And poo in the worst places. ALWAYS. Either he makes poop soup in his water dish (and he is sure to bathe in it!) or he feeds the worms his own special gutload. All dishes are regarded as toilets.

And you should see things when he sheds..

Marcia, you and I have talked about this! There are two reasons his name is PIGLET!!!

Piglet is a complete toddler...he acts like Godzilla, trampling everything, rearranging, soaking the papertowel in the water dish and creating his own sauna lol...

I only have one other gecko that is messy, and he is my Tremper male...much be a boy thing :main_rolleyes: :main_laugh:

Even if someone was to rearrange tubs, and take nametags off I would know EXACTLY which tub is Piglet's...he has hand prints made of c-powder and water ALL OVER the front of his tub!!!

marsha i know you been having geckos for yrs but what do you do for food dishes? i been using ash trays i get from the dollar store and i find those are harder to dump, and i can just put some extra calcium powder in there as well. that seems to work good.

I caught my Tremper Tang. Enigma pushing his calcium dish around lika a shopping cart. Even when I opened the drawer further he kept it up for a while. That was so funny to me.

That is freakin hilarious!! I can just imagine your gecko pushing his dish around thinking "what a great price on mealworms this week" and throws it into the dish! Thanks for the laugh.:main_laugh:

extreme tub makeover, enigma style

My tang enigma male remodels his tub all the time! Some days are worse than others but he always makes some sort of mess. On his good days he crams everything (hide, paper towel, etc) to the front like a dozer pile!

We have a few Enigmas that move their hides to the center of their tubs, I think they like it cooler than other Leos. We have a Snow Bell (non-Enigma) that is by far the worst offender in the house. 5 minutes after his tub is cleaned he's shredded the paper towel, pushed it to one corner, walked though his water then through his calcium and tracked it everywhere. I guess he just likes a messy house! I'm pretty sure they do it to drive us crazy. LOL

Yes! Most of my enigmas are horrible. Everyday, they spill their food, calcium, and water and the hides are moved all over, sometimes upside down!

I switched to superior enterprises small feeder bowls and I don't have to chase these slobs around daily anymore. They are still messy(not just enigmas) , but it's much cleaner now.

I have the same experience with most of my enigma's. Especially the albinos. I have some enigma het. for albino (different strains) and they arn't really messy, but my supersnow bell enigma's are just the most terrible of all.

every *******minute of the day, they are doing things they shouldn't: pooping in the mealwormdish or waterbowl, re-arranging their enclosure, tipping over waterboils, throwing the humid substrate out of their shelter... They are worse than bearded dragons.
