I candle my clutches once a week to make sure everything looks good and that they are growing.. well, i did the weekly candling on my clutch that was laid 5/30/10 and this is what i saw...

Please be careful when candling eggs that are that old...4 and a half minutes is a long time for those eggs to be exposed to that bright light...

I agree fully... At this stage it is not a good idea to candle the eggs and stir up the embryos... They are big enough to rip the vital blood vessels from the egg wall... This can cut off their oxygen supply and kill them... If I ever do candle eggs, I do it once within the first two weeks to check viability and thats it... I normally never candle eggs though...

With that being said, it IS a cool vid... It is very interesting....

I do understand that it's not a good idea to do this. It was strickly for educational purposes, and it's not something i would recomend doing.
