ive got a fishtank background, and its a desert one with pictures of rocks an stuff, my leo is staring at the background an puttin his feet up on it thinking its a real rock infront of him.

shall i take the background off an change it? i dont want to get him confused

Well, I have solid black posterboard on the back of one my 10-gal homes and the leo in there, Lucas, still scratches at the sides thinking he's going to get somewhere! I've recently wondered if putting that bg on the inside of the tank would help since it isn't shiny--like maybe he sees his reflection in the glass and that's what makes him think he can get out. It's as if he's thinking, "Hey, if that guy is on the other side, then surely I can make it over there, too!" Also, I think every leo has a different personality so you'll just have to experiment and see what works for yours! You could always just put the pretty one back if a different, perhaps plainer, one didn't give you the desired results.

i think im gonna buy one of them Exo Terra Rock Backgrounds so i can put it in his viv an then maybe black out the sides, but he does come to the front an stare as well which i cant really do much about :\

also i think when he looks at the background picture i have right now he thinks its actually there but he just cant get to it

Well, no. Leopard geckos like to be housed alone, but you can get him a buddy if you want.

well i was feeding my leo he ate 1 locust then seemed more intrested in the background, so i decided to grab some pieces of plain white A4 paper an stuck them to the outside

even the locusts were tryin to climb on the non existant 2D rock haha

All of my geckos do that too. So I got a reptile hammock and put it flat on the back wall so they have something to climb instead of "climbing" the background picture lol.
