Well, both eggs didn't make it. One died earlier on and the bulky one died while hatching. I opened him to see any defects and he didn't have any. I was excited to check to see if it hatched in the morning to find it dead. Something been bugging me all night to check on it earlier, should had, probably would had lived.

I am sad that both didn't live, but I would rather have this than have it live for a few days, get attached and it dies. Also I prepared for it's death, by telling myself that it may not live. I have two eggs expected to hatch during the 2nd week of August, now I am hoping for them. And with the failure of the egg between the two clutchmates, I feel really discouraged, and am hoping for at least one hatchling to hatch out of my six eggs (4 laid and 2 unlaid) and thrive.

Here is a pic of the little one before I bury him, which I can't because I hurt my leg:

Father(It would had been huge, since it was incubated for male. The father is huge and everyone says it to me.):

The good side is that I just found out another one of my geckos is very gravid. Her eggs just aren't showing as much as they used to. When I squeezed her belly, there were two big lumps I felt.

The daddy was acting bummy and mean this morning. I think he may had saw.:main_robin: He is a curious boy. He is nicer now. He now has eight eggs, half laid, half unlaid. I told him that he will get that son someday.

I feel disappointed...Should had opened the egg, maybe he would had lived.

You think it may had been too much stress on him from trying to hatch? He only pipped the egg, didn't even get his head out. Or isn't higher temperatures more stressful when they are hatching. The temp was 86-88 degrees.

If this happens to my next two hatchlings, due the 2nd or 3rd week of August, it will be a put-down. (And I really want them since they are SHTCT het. Albino x Chocolate Albino) Then I would have to wonder and wait till October or later for the other eggs that are incubating, not laid, or may be developed soon.

PnK,
Do not be too hard on yourself. It is easy to sit back and second guess yourself but truely you never know. Had you went ahead and opened the egg this thread might read "Should have left it alone, I opened the egg and killed the baby." In the world of geckos things happen and no amount of words will make you feel any better. I do feel for you and hope you have MANY more chances at your geckos getting a son!!!!!!
