Steve I would call them Red-eyed Tremper albinos. No confusion with calling them what they are. :main_thumbsup:

Thanks Eric,
So how do you get banded raptors? Or are they all just red-eyed albinos?

Since the "p" in raptor stands for patternless, personally I don't think any banded gecko should be called a raptor, though some people do call them that.

Since the default or standard version of the Tremper albino is banded than a red-eyed Tremper albino is a banded raptor. But like Aliza said "Since the "p" in raptor stands for patternless, personally I don't think any banded gecko should be called a raptor." The acronym goes:R= Red-eyed A=Albino P=Patternless(pattern not morph) T=Tremper OR=Orange. The proper term for a banded raptor is a red-eyed Tremper albino.

If its got the Eclipse and Tremper Albino genes in it, why should it matter?

This gets so confusing for me. Last year I called them Red Eye whatever, but I constantly had people telling me they were raptors. So this year I went with banded raptor and red eye reverse stripe. I hate that there isn't one correct way to list them.:( I guess I'll go back to the red eye... for all of them.

Rob, I understand completely with what you're saying, but out of respect for the R.A.P.T.ORs creator and its given acronym, a separate name is given to show variances. Also, it gets a little confusing to some when you read the acronym correctly: R= Red-eyed A=Albino P=Patternless(pattern not morph) T=Tremper OR=Orange, a lot of "patterned" R.A.P.T.ORs don't fit into the original acronym.

I looked at Tremper's site last night and he uses 'banded raptor' when he labels them. Makes it even more confusing for me.:main_rolleyes:

I personally think RAPTOR was a terrible acronym for the morph, and it will always be confusing for people new to the hobby. I think it's better to call them banded raptors, so it's clear for the new guys that these are the same morph as raptors. If you breed two banded RAPTORS together you can get patternless raptors, jungle raptors, reverse stripe raptors, etc, right? I think they should have been called (Enter pattern type) Tremper Eclipse from the beginning.

using the term 'R.A.P.T.O.R' for banded red eyed trempers, eclipse trempers, whatever you want to call them... in my opinion, is totally fine... It all comes down to the genetics... as long as you and your customer know what they are, go for it.

eclipse + albino = red eyes. Simple as that...

stripe, reverse stripe, patternless, jungle, bold, banded... whatever it might be visually, isn't that big of deal to me. Do what you like!

When it comes down to the genetics, they all pretty much do the same thing as any RAPTOR that is visually 'patternless' - they are all beautiful to me, banded, patternless, jungle... no one is better or more pure than the other.
