Best way to keep your crickets kickin?

Have a whole cricket setup food= veg, cheerios, water gel. The nifty little cage fitting 250. Woke up 3 days after getting them to throw out about 50 dead little guys. Whats the trick to keep them around?

Keep them warm, dry, and fed well... Do not add any supplements to their food, especially calcium... Calcium can keep a cricket from molting properly, resulting in death...

as greg said, keep them warm. Not too warm though. just in like a neutral part of the house, away from heaters or drafts. also provide lots of hiding places (egg crates) so they don't trample each other

Wouldnt they just eat the egg crates?

we keep ours out in an outbuilding but that is because we feed about 1,000 a week and they stink up the office!

We use a garbage can and we line with absorbant puppy pads incase any moisture builds up...we also put a heat spot light in the can and feed water gel and usually some fruit and or ground potato ( hash browns)
