Black light vs. Red light

Anybody have any thoughts on which type of light is better?

I started out with a red light, but got too hot and the colors look horrible on the lizard.

I switched over to an Exo-Terra moonglo black light and the colors on the gecko show up real well.

Do either of these hurt their eyes, I know Albino's are sensitive to light, but what about black or red night lights?

I'd like this answered as well. I too recently purchased a red light to but am thinking a black light might look better.

I used to use red incandescent bulbs. Now I have Zilla combo halogen/fluorescent fixtures and use 25W red heating halogen bulbs.
For night viewing light, I use LED aquarium accent lights. You stick them to the sides of your terrarium with little suction cups and plug them into a hub with a power switch on it. The hub will hold 3 LED lights. You can get the lights (red, green and blue) and hub (sold seperatly) at nearly any pet store.
Works great, and looks really cool too :D

Does anyone know for sure if leos can even see color?

I mean, since they dont seem to use color for communication (like how male birds will use color to attract females) why would they have evolved color vision? :main_huh:

Anyone who can answer this question will be leo expert of the week!! :main_yes:

P.S. Not including the color RED!!
